Well I guess the Westhill kids shouldn’t bother to get on the bus to LI then . Manhasset is clearly good and super talented but with all those future D1 kids they still managed to somehow lose 5 times. Westhill would certainly be considered an underdog but it’s high school and anything is possible. I’ll root for the local team that seems to be under the radar and maybe a bit disrespected.
Ok that’s cool.
I watched today’s game, Mahassett is on another level. They’re as good a HS team as I’ve seen. They play a really good matchup zone that’s going to fluster Westhill and offensively they are well oiled machine, patient, methodical and good. (and they don’t drop a pass.). Goalie might be a shade weak (sophomore maybe?). Defensively the poles are aggressive and in your face. Ive seen BH up close and personal and I thought they were a really big team, Manhasset was even bigger than BH.
The BH FOGO is a section2 AA headed to Towson and he’s been nearly unbeatable this year, the Manhasset kid going to Duke handled him rather easily. Manhasset just bounced Mt Sinai 12-7 and Burnt Hills 16-5 and it wasn’t that close. BH is no slouch, they won Section 2 class B last year.
Manhasset’s 4 losses are to:
Darien, CT. by 2 (#1 ranked team in Connecticut),
Lost to Garden City by 1 (playing in the Class B state title game),
Lost to Cold Spring Harbor by 1 (playing in the Class D title game), and lost to Chaminade by 9.
Of course you play the game and anything can happen. I hope Westhill goes down there with the right attitude and a chip on their shoulder but it will be an epic type upset.
