It's hard to get worked up about it but I realize that it's easy for me to say since I'm an ex-townie and not an alum. If your school happens to be in a part of the country that has prospered over the past 20-30 years, it's likely that you've moved up in the rankings because that's where the best and brightest want to be. If your school isn't in one of those places, then your rankings may be stagnant or declining. Even Cornell has taken a hit. They used to be in the top 10 and now they're at the end of the top 20.
