2022 Yankees Season

That’s where you would rather have Gallo in that situation. He would have struck out and passed the baton to Torres.

So then Torres could have at least struck out to.

3 more years of Hicks after this one.

Those boos were overwhelming.

Worst contract signing of Cashmans tenure. Make the AJ Burnett signing look like Verlander.

This just in ... trying to pull outside pitches just keeps middle infielders busy.

A caveat, I don't get to see all the games, but I've seen a dozen or so this past month. It looks to me like the word is out that to get yankee batters out, keep throwing sliders. Nobody's throwing heat to 'em anymore, everything is down or down and away. It's pretty hard to hit those out.

Kiley McDaniel's midseason top 50 MLB prospects

3. Anthony Volpe, SS, Yankees

Age: 21 | Level: Double-A
Since my update two months ago, Volpe has bounced back from a largely unlucky start and gone off: 49 games, 12% walks and strikeouts (26 of each), a .291/.386/.529 line with 25 extra-base hits and 19 stolen bases on 22 attempts. If No. 34 on this list (Oswald Peraza) wasn't playing shortstop for the Yankees every day in Triple-A, Volpe would probably be there right now. The Yankees are 22nd in baseball in WAR from the shortstop position (even though Isiah Kiner-Falefa hit his first homer over the weekend!), so it could be time to look to the farm.

I dunno. One of the things that seemed to have knocked the Yankees back on their heels a bit was the precipitous, almost shocking trade of Montgomery. IKF has played hard and mostly well all year, is a solid teammate, and so I think in this case it's time to "dance with the one that brought you." Just IMHO.
