They wanted a starting pitcher and they acquired one of the best guys available. I don’t blame Cashman for not foreseeing Montas’ struggles. If there is a GM out there who knows exactly how players will perform in the future, then yes, the Yankees should fire Cashman and hire that guy.

The Bader for Montgomery trade is looking a lot better now that Monty has come back to reality.

It will be decided IMO when a Yankee starter blows up in inning 1 or 2 of the playoffs and whomever comes in to give them 4 or 5 doesn’t do their job and keep the enemy from scoring till the bats could come around.

Or if a starter or 2 can’t answer the bell.

How is that going to prove Monty wouldn’t have gotten blown up in a post season game?
Of course the reason they moved him was he probably wasn’t going to even get a start in the playoffs., which makes the trade even better.
