2022 Yankees Season

Having a minor debate with a friend.

What will Chappie’s primary (on-field) legacy be when he walks away from the game, assuming he’s lost his role as everyday closer and his days as a Yankee are numbered?

He’s 34, so he’s got a few more years left to finish the story.

Will he be remembered for wild inconsistency and giving up late inning home runs in key playoff games (and nearly blowing the 2016 WS despite being overused by Madden)?

Or will he go down as an all-time great who ushered in a new era of rocket arms throwing 100 mph+?

when he closes out the World Series this year for the then 28x World Champion Yankees, he will be remembered for having delivered the Cubs their 1st in 100+ years and the Yankees their 1st in 13 years...which is roughly the same length of time in baseball.

therefore...a LEGEND.

Pretty easily one of the hardest throwers of all time.

That home run by Davis was one of the flukiest plays in MLB history. AND he came back out after it and held them scoreless.

The off-field legacy will be all that I think about.

He should be the AL Starter in the ASG.
Verlander, Manoah and Cortes are likely the favorites right now. The first two have more quality starts, but Nestor is more impressive on other key metrics.

Cortes, Taillon, and Cole are currently 4th, 5th, and 6th, in FanGraphs WAR in the American League.

Gausman (TOR), Skubul (DET), and Perez (TEX) are 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
