Big changes to the faceoff are on the horizon. TLDR
“… multiple sources tell Inside Lacrosse that discussions have been raised about the possibility of shortening the 80-second shot clock after face-off wins to 60 seconds.”
And
“ Another rule introduced into the topics of discussion is the possibility of eliminating clamps during face-offs. Instead of a clamp leading to control and possession, coaches proposed that players would instead swipe at the ball to create a groundball situation.”
Seems to be they are just delaying the inevitable of getting rid of the faceoff completely. They keep trying to change the rules to make it more “even” but players always find a way to be dominant. They need to just rip the bandaid off. All these little tweaks just seem ridiculous at this point.
