Sure - and whose money?Mink puts the University and people in charge on notice. It wasn’t just coincidence that much of the coaching staff left. If SU is serious about being in a major conference, they better start funding the program to compete. Lipstick on a pig isn’t going to get the job done. SU sounds like completing the new athletic complex is going to fix everything. It’s not. You better fund the program to compete against the powers of football. Don‘t expect the football team to beat the FSU’s, Clemson, ND’s, etc. when you‘re budget is half what they’re spending. Put your money where your mouth is!
Sometimes violence is the only answerNate Mink chose violence but also made some salient points.
I wonder if the question is more about money allocation. Is the cash cow getting enough of the money it generates, or is too much going elsewhere? I have no idea how any of that works. Does it all stay within the AD? How much funds the non-revenue sports?Sure - and whose money?
From tuitions, or draws on the endowment?
Ticket prices? More fans buying season tickets?
Major donors, including more members of the legacy society?
Alumni and fans making annual donations?
Luxury box owners?
When you say “SU” should put its money . . . tell us more.
Agree.Thought it was a dumb take by Mink. If the team goes 6-6 this year it has nothing to do with not extending Dino's contract. It will have everything to do with Dino's inability to win with what looks like his most (or 2nd most) talented team since he's been here.
Agree.
Is Mink on leave in Europe or Antarctica?
SU is in the midst of recording breaking fund raising. They are in the middle of a series of unprecedented investments in their sports programs, centered on hundreds of millions of dollars in investments in facilities.
They have expanded the staffing for the sports programs in a number of areas and they increased the money spent on assistant coaches from the previous year.
All his points are wrong. He has no idea what is going on.
That said, he could well have the best prediction of the group. That was the best part of his diatribe. He must have really been dying to drop a bomb on the program to decide to work that into a prediction column.
He really needs a good editor to help guide him.
