2024-25 Coaching Carousel

lol no.
There are strong up-and-comers that emerge every year. Some of you sound like those ppl who go into a dealership to start the looking at cars process and leave with a car after getting sucked into THIS DEAL ENDS TOMORROW AND IS TOO GOOD TO PASS UP when there's a virtually identical deal starting the following month, and the month after that, and...

There's up and comers and then there's up and comers that are a really good fit for Syracuse.

I mean isn't a good fit for Syracuse right now any coach that can get us in the tourney? I'm not sure what our identity is or a good fit is on the hill except we have a big dome that is filling out less, the Orange brand, and an unproven NIL program.

Ace recruiter, local guy /fan growing up, has a fun uptempo system, learned under a top 3 current coach, wont cost a ton (right now) . But as usual this administration cant look ahead . So many here saw what was going to happen with Oats when he was at Buff . Most were ridiculed for wanting boeheim gone then to hire him. History will be repeated…

something about that used-car salesman doosh-bro jackassery of Oats soured some of us a tad

Totally get that. I am just afraid of what SU can attract with another down year/money issues .

What does that have to do with hiring his qualified, renowned lead assistant that by all accounts would run to SU for the gig?

Hindsight is 20/20. Remember what hot coach preceded Oats at UB? Bobby Hurley. I would guess that there were some who wanted him to replace JB. That would not have gone well.

I don’t know about that, if you believe that he will be a top 15 coach in the game within the next few seasons that also has ties to upstate New York. However, the decision has been made and I just hope that those in power had the foresight to see what Hodgson has been doing and his trajectory and factored that into the decision making to give Autry another season. Hopefully Autry is successful for a long time here moving forward and we don’t look back a decade from now and realize that we missed out on our opportunity to course correct.
I doubt the 13 members of the SU-Athletics sub committee on the BOT even know who BH is.

Wildhack gonna regret not getting him this year. Just like Oats
Dammit. I thought we’d have a shot at Hodgson next season if he stayed mid major for one more year.

Depending on the other openings I'm not sure he leaves this cycle. Ryan Odom likely to UVA, Will Wade is the obvious one for NC State.

Maybe Nova then. I could see him waiting one more season (but Cuse would have heavy competition next year).
That’s what I was hoping for Hodgson, that those other P5 ADs would be too scared to pull the trigger on him because they need to hire someone more proven for PR purposes.

He very well might, but I think Red buys another year next year then bottoms out year after. By then, Hodgson adios. Better to be a year early…

He was way down ESPN’s recent list of the top 20 mid major coaches who may get a shot at the P5 this season. #18 I believe. So I was hoping he would still be available next season.

We'll see.

I don't think Ark St. increased his buyout by $1mill randomly.
