If he gets bought out, I would take him as the backup PG in Milwaukee so damn fast (I think we can get buyout guys now that we ducked the tax apron?)Dennis Schroder will soon be playing for his ninth different team in less than 5 seasons.

The Williams/Knecht trade is maybe the most interesting trade of the deadline so far. So easy to see a world where it looks like an absolute heist for either side. Williams is a productive guy and is obviously very young and has a ton of tools to work with, but he can also be a bit of a mess sometimes. The instincts aren't really where you generally would want them to be as the lynchpin of a defense that's trying to win a title but when it looks right, he looks like a star in the making.

Like I said, when things are good with Williams, he looks like a two-way star in the making. His size and quick leaping ability allow him to potentially be a menace on defense and on the offensive glass. But it's kinda the same deal as other young guys like Jalen Duren where they just don't really get where they're supposed to be consistently yet.I don't see the fascination with Knecht, so I think its a really nice deal for Mark Williams for this year and moving forward.
He has already put up monster numbers from a box score perspective -- PER of 22.5 and 26.5 the last 2 years is really, really good. Now the one thing PER doesn't capture well for the modern center, is how much of an issue they can be defensively (be it instincts, awareness, ability to defend or cover up for others in space)... can't say I have watched much Charlotte basketball, but their D is an issue, so I can see Mark Williams being one of the causes. I'll trust your perspective that he is a mess on D sometimes.
Still like the deal for the Lakers though despite those issues, and they for sure had a hole at C. What bothers me is Knecht, the 2031 First, and the Swap, should have all been assets that were moved to Dallas. How Dallas didn't get some of those assets as well is beyond me. This is what allowed the Lakers to get enough together to get an upgrade like Williams.
Yeah I get it for sure lol. I still remember how much he butted heads with Budenholzer when they were in Atlanta together. He does seem like he's matured a decent amount as he's gotten older but ultimately, my interest in him is mostly because our current backup PG is Ryan Rollins or Pat Connaughton lol (tbf Rollins is kinda intriguing, but yeah, it's not exactly great depth behind Dame). He's batting about 25% in terms of where fans / teams are still happy about him after more than 30 games. So you might get him for just a short enough period where it works.
so another Andrew Bynum?Williams when he plays is a factor. IF they are all healthy at the right time and have had a chance to play together...
You can get buyout guys but they have to be making less than the full TPMLE. Schroeder is over by like 200 grand. If he gets bought out, I would take him as the backup PG in Milwaukee so damn fast (I think we can get buyout guys now that we ducked the tax apron?)
I don' think the Raptors gave up anything of real substance. Kind of depends on what they resign him for I would think. BI's biggest issue is staying on the court and his relying on the midrange game too much and requires the basketball probably too much. He can play defense when he wants to! Tough to see him in Toronto but at the right price I am sure he will be happy. He was pretty happy in New Orleans, pretty laid back dude, good teammate and loves the game, works hard at it. He was just never getting the big contract he was requesting and with the development of Trey Murphy the Pels decided they could move onDon't ask me to explain the Brandon Ingram trade -- or at least where I feel good about explaining it as a Raptors fan.
The last thing the Jazz need is another guard. Especially one not part of the rebuilding plan. They basically have Sexton and Collier as starters and rumor is that Sexton is a keeper at 26 years old. Backups are Clarkson and Keyonte George. If Clarkson gets traded, as rumored, but the clock is ticking, Sensabaugh would slide in as the backup. You can get buyout guys but they have to be making less than the full TPMLE. I kinda hate that I know this, but both of our teams are pretty hamstrung.
Or Jaxson Hayes or Jarred Vanderbilt or Mo Bamba or Christian Wood or basically every big they’ve acquired the last few years. Oozing with potential and also injury prone.so another Andrew Bynum?
When can Jazz fans expect Ainge's "plan" to materialize. If he wins the lottery this year? The last thing the Jazz need is another guard. Especially one not part of the rebuilding plan. Also a big miss would be the failure to trade John Collins. He and Clarkson would both be big insurance for some lottery bound team. What will Ainge do?
They've won 2 of 3 in February after going 3-12 in January, so they are going in the wrong direction. But yes, that's the billion dollar question. #CaptureTheFlaggWhen can Jazz fans expect Ainge's "plan" to materialize. If he wins the lottery this year?

Is this the league’s way of punishing him over his slavery remarks? Or is this a competition to see who gets traded more this year, him or PJ Tucker?Update make it 10 teams in less than 5 years. 4 teams this year, traded 3 separate times. Just traded to Detroit.

I get it. It does sound like there’s more to the story with KPJ. Ex-girlfriend says it was a misunderstanding and the league didn’t punish him. He was a mixed bag with the Clips.
Trading Middleton was tough, but I can at least see the vision for it being a good move. Trading for KPJ is gross though. Hopefully we're just planning on buying him out but my guess is we're actually looking at him as the backup PG.

They didn't give up much. Its not the trade value given up that bothers me. Its the what happens next, when we will already pay 4 starters next year nearly $120M -- before Ingram, and for a team that is a play in type team at best.
My concern is what this leads to -- the next contract, his injuries, way too much mid range shots to get "his" points. Plays soft too often.
He's going to get a near max contract from the Raps - they put themselves in a pickle here as a middling team. There will be a few teams with max cap space in the offseason (Brooklyn) being one, and Ingram will use them as leverage -- why should he have any loyalty to the Raps who are a middling team. That's going to force the Raps to pay him quite well. It will be below max but not that far... and given our current salary obligations that's not good.
Also not crazy about his play style and the fact that he needs the ball to succeed given the rest of our core... we need 3+D guys not more guys who need the ball... perhaps we move RJ Barrett. But Barnes, Quickly, Barrett, Ingram -- not enough ball, and not enough defensive stoppers. But i guess he does shoot better than RJ -- but I like that RJ is our best downhill player.
I took this from an NBA.com article I just read on upcoming FA's. I think they thought the ranks 3rd was a compliment. Being 3rd in pull up 2's, is not a great thing to me. Taking a shot that is typically earlier in the shot clock is not great for efficiency.
12. Brandon Ingram, Toronto Raptors
Coached in Little Falls NY back in the 1950’s. My dad played against his team when he was 18 and he’s now 83.I feel like Hubie Brown is one of the sharpest 91 year olds on Earth. Also, he looks and sounds the exact same to me as he did calling games in the early 90s.

It was all I knew but I didn’t realize how bad the offense was for a lot of that era. The 99 lockout season was rhe worst of it.In 1998-99 Karl Malone averaged 23.8/9.4/4.1 and was League MVP.
This season, LaMelo Ball averaged 28.2/5.3/7.3 and did not make the All Star Team.
