2024-25 Portal

It doesn't seem likely to me that quality starters at p-4 schools are going to be in the portal in the spring.

Many will be taken, you're right. But I don't think it will be all at once.

I have friends who have spoken to Jack Hasz, there is definitely mutual intersest here. Something to watch closely
Hasz is from Nebraska. Two of Odom’s OL has already transferred to Purdue and if there is still a spot open, I would expect Hasz to take it.

But Hasz went from JUCO to UB and then to UNLV. He knows upstate NY and perhaps he craves wings?

UNLV ran the ball really well. Guess Jack is solid run blocking. Anyone have access to his pff grades for 2024?

Hasz, your wings are ready.

Let’s not pretend he didn’t fill those coordinator positions with top shelf talent most of the country would have taken. Culture is a great. It’s a huge component for long-term success but we won this year because we had some really really talented players. Culture wont be sufficient in replacing guys like McCord(?), OG, Meeks, LGQ, Washington, Wax, Barron, Barnes, etc . Give me talent first and then a great culture to go with it. Again, no matter who Clemson lost, they are the perfect example of needing to hit a certain percentage of plug and plays from the portal and HS recruiting development because who knows if these HS recruits will even be here next season….see hyped HS recruit .Marcellus Barnes.
I'm only trying to illustrate that great players for any program have traditionally come from HS recruiting (not just at Clemson) and that I have a hard time with people saying/suggesting that Fran is abandoning the portal. I think he wants to find the right mix, and right now he feels that mix should be HS heavy. It's seems it's a bit of a long game. I think that has to do with "all of the above", (NIL, opportunity, culture/attitude, PT and roster room) but isn't without the idea that through the building of a good culture, he can sell that culture, and the NFL opportunities it can create better recruiting success at the HS level over an NIL and mercenary approach (like that of Miami or FSU) where we may not be able to consistently beat out bigger war chests for top transfer talent. With Dabo, he said publicly that he would not use the portal. It's different. For the record, I never said the culture at Clemson is a problem.
