2024 NASCAR

i love the short tracks. drivers fighting to stay on the lead lap almost always makes for a fun scramble. that said yesterday's DOVER race was pretty tame. only real wreck was bubba wallace getting sideways on a restart and taking out the #24 and one other ride.
denny hamlin was out front most of the second half and was able to hold off a token challenge by kyle larson late. matching the short track and no flags led to a very quick (and kinda boring) race.

rain delay in KC but those fans that stuck around for the late start were treated to one helluva race. closest finish in NASCAR history. .001 seconds . larson edges buescher.

all star race at wilkesboro last night easily the most boring race of the season . joey LOGANO led 199 of 200 laps and very few wrecks. teams were given a few sets of OPTION tires which most teams ran the entire race with little fall off. most excitement came post race with a fight in the pits between kyle busch and ricky stehouse jr.. yawn.

the Enjoy Illinois at madison another somewhat snoozer of a race. chris bell really dominating early dropped a cylinder and finished back in the pack. Kyle busch AGAIN wrecked by a careless move by kyle larson. dude is having a tough year. the almost certain winner Ryan Blaney ran out of fuel on the last lap handing the victory to austin cindric . the Fords are finally starting to wake up.

the oldest living winner of the indy 500 racing legend Parnelli Jones dies at the age of 90.

ok sundays race at iowa didn't start til 7 . perfect. frees up the day. first cup race at this track. pre race i heard rusty wallace saying he helped design it and modeled it somewhat on richmond. it's a bit longer ( 7/8 mi instead odf 3/4 ) but the oddest part of this track is that it's fresh new pavement in spots and old track in others. drivers seemed to be burning thru right front tires leading to several cautions . kyle larson who was a rocket early got clipped from behind by daniel suarez ending his day. reigning champ ryan blaney took the lead and held off the #24 chevy to post his first victory of the season in front of family and friends.

rainy day in loudon nh. with about 90 laps to go nascar mandated rain tires . race lasted over 6 hours with the delays. drivers sliding all over led to several spins. christopher bell 's toyota your eventual winner .

amazing . 2 million$ car runs 220 mph but the wipers and lights don't work.
well you wouldn't pass NYS inspection my friend...let's race in the snow !
That would be fun to watch

drivers were diving to the apron during the caution laps to run thru the standing water and cool their tires.

ok nashville. where to start . they say cautions breed cautions. it's drivers getting stoopid on the restarts.
this race ended well after 9pm. tons of cautions a long rain delay and a record 5 green/white /checker OTS. chris bell had the fastest ride until he just lost the rear end with zero contact and crashed. kyle larson also notable in that he seemed to aid and abet several wrecks. in the end it came down to fuel. the leaders (denny hamlin and others) stayed out as long as they could but with over 100 laps on a 70 lap window many either ran out or had to pit and go to the rear. joey logano gambled and won somehow making it to the finish for his first victory.

Was really hoping for a 1st time winner. Was perfect opportunity. No way that Logano should've made it to the end.

ok what did we miss. well the streets of chicago was another washout. heavy rains. the thing is these cars have wipers so why they park them IDK. class of the field shane von gutterball ( i keed) was clearly gonna run away with this thing til he was wrecked early. what a skilled road course ace carving up the track. also kyle larson miss played a corner and took a hard header into the tire/concrete barrier. drivers playing the slick/rain tire strategy all day and eventual winner #44 alex bowman (really needed one) brought home the checker flag a little after 9:30.
i missed most of POCONO to be honest but caught the final 30 or so laps. ryan barney held off a hard charging denny hamlin for the win. 7 cautions early and often but the final run was a really long without pits . hendricks cars bowman and byron also in the top 5.

ooohhh doggie!
after a couple weeks off NASCAR returned to richmond and what is now a controconversationial finish we all witnessed. so nascar gave the drivers 2 sets of tires to use. the traditional slicks and the much softer option tires. pit strategy abounded but with a relatively caution free race (other than the comps) 2 cars get together in the final laps. austin dillon was cruising to victory but was forced into a G/W/C.
joey logano smokes him on the restart and then the #3 roush fenway car proceeds to intentionally wreck both logano and denny hamlin to win. i'll just say that 1 win cost him a ton of (say it with me swiftys)
BAD BLOOD !

PLAY NICE !

"Austin Dillon’s automatic spot in NASCAR’s playoff was revoked — though he retained his victory at Richmond Raceway — after it was determined the driver “crossed a line” in his intentional last-lap wreck of drivers Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin."

rain delay at michigan today. ran 50 laps and postponed til monday

racing resumed monday at michigan . chances for the chase are dwindling so a lotta drivers back in the pack are getting pretty squirrelly . a few early wrecks collected a few of those unfortunate souls on the cut line. kyle larson (who's firmly cemented in the chase ) got "squirrelly" and ended the day for a few hopefuls. corey lajoie found himself upside down at 200mph but in the end tyler reddick outraced the running on empty #24 Billy b in double OT for his second W which combined with the larson crash puts him atop the standings.
