2025-26 All-ACC Team

Maliq better be ready to play 30 minutes a night during the ACC tourney!

I remember the beginning of the 23-24 season when Autry was starting Naheem McLeod over Maliq Brown. There were rumors that Brown was playing at less than 100% and was on a minutes restriction as the explanation for that decision.

Then, McLeod continued starting every game until he suffered an injury and missed the rest of the season. All of a sudden, Brown was the starter.

I remember the mental gymnastics I did to try to figure out why Brown wasn't starting before that. In retrospect, it was a huge red flag (pun intended).

Whewwwwwwwwww

Maliq made the right decision.

He's an unreal player.

Anyone thinking he's a role player, good luck with that.

Anyone thinking he wasn't good on defense here even though we had guards that couldn't guard a JV kid so he was playing out of position while high end bigs were getting clear entry passes from up top, that was something.

It's fine. Lot of people here think PPG is the end all, be all. It's cool. Everyone has their thing.
IF Edwards had stayed.

Maliq would have gotten the PF minutes instead of having to play center.

Taylor would have come off the bench on much fewer minutes.

Then we might have played well enough to make the tournament that year.

The work he put in and the jump made to this year all around even improving during the season is so impressive. My guess is he may have had an injury nagging him last year somewhat and I know he had that this year early on. Since he’s been back healthy he’s been lights out whether having big numbers or not.

Some of the best defensive and disruptive hands I’ve seen on a big.

He definitely would have if he hadn’t fallen off so bad.
I know I’m biased, but will try not to be.

Onyesso #3, 4.9 rpg, 2.6 bpg, 0.6 steals

Kyle #7, 7.1 rpg, 2.6 bpg, 1.0 steals ( 3- to 4 inches shorter).

Appears to be a team record award along with individual stats.

They almost always are.

And that's not the worst thing. Makes more sense. I remember when Alex Rodriguez won MVP and played for the last place Texas Rangers.

Where would they have been without him, I wondered? Probably last place.

Not sure how that earns MVP.

I agree, it was more a response to the comment about him falling off so bad. Statistically he was better than #3 in every category I would consider for Top 3 DPOY.

More the team record doesn’t reflect good defense than a player falling off.

Ernie Banks won 2 MVP's in a row for the last place Chicago Cubs.
