Princeton Gameday...

The Princeton D treated Spallina like a threat all game (which he is). They were quick to double him and multiple times triple team him. The did well to shut off adjacents and passing lanes and get sticks on his hands.

Failure here as mentioned is the complete lack of adjustment from the coaching staff.

Yup needed to either be ready to spin it quickly because Princeton was very quick to slide or had to have someone else initiate. Not sure why we didn't let Bear get more dodging runs or invert guys besides Hottle.

Also is it possible to set up any kind of ride? Way too easy for teams to clear it. Seems just playing open space mostly instead of a guy. Not saying have to 10 men. But leave guy all way back open n force them to make that long ass pass even. Don’t know just leash try somewhat make them earn clearing the ball.

Some sort of ride would be nice, SU gives zero resistance.

Is it possible the guys have flu/colds running through the team?

Just seemed like they all came out flat especially on offense. We'll see how they bounce back Sunday.

Sloppy. It's a trend.

McCool is wildly inconsistent. He seems to guess a lot. He goes low the shot is high, he goes high and the shot is low. I'm not sure he sees the ball very well.

It's disappointing that we stick with our base offense instead of changing things up when it's being completely shut down; . It was so well scouted and defended we couldn't do anything. some different looks like a 141 etc. might help; it changes the defensive slide responsibilities and they can't zero in on their game plan. Idk, we don't seem to adjust much ever. Anyhow we're facing an all American goalie and taking 15 yard shots thats a joke.

Princeton looked really good, really well coached and their kids executed.

We also have zero transition what so ever off of defense. Don’t know if without chuck on lsm is why or their just so focused on clearing it n slow it all down. But only transition we get if any is off faceoff. Also can’t lose groundball battle vs top teams. You’re not gonna set yourself up to win losing groundball battle. To win that ya have to hustle n actually field ground ball. Two hands butt low buttend waist or little lower n run thru the dam ball. No one hand stuff. If traffic on the gb push it or kick it to space n out hustle the guys to it. Also can do man/ ball.

Also teams gonna try to prevent middle looks. So need to spin ball fast get it to opposite side when D is on carousel n take the open mid range shot, but have to bury it. Change levels overhand n hard, hard bounce even. Gotta be able to least work for mid range shots to keep the D honest n forcing them to press out n middle then will open. Also pick on other teams shorties. Also stop sliding with our dmids on our close d. We are sliding with our dmids to our poles who arnt even beat half time. Gotta get on players hands when catching and passing.

That first half of maryland was exactly how thought we would play this year specially on D. But since then we have mostly sat baxk n let the O do what they want instead forcing them into what we want. Oh but our two slowest dmids do all the aggressive pressing out knowing once get torched it’s a wrap makes sense why we keep doing that.

Had the pleasure of taking this one in live. We were outplayed in every facet of the game. No adjustments offensively. Finally got the ball inside very late, but for the most part, a plodding, lost offense when pressed against better teams. For the the most part, the ball movement was not good, stuck in sticks and deep shot from the outside that were easy to gobbled up due to lack of ability to win match ups. I'm not going to get into a big debate about it, Jimmy is average, period. Made a few nice saves, but also let a lot of ones in he should have had. Mullen has his moments but gets in his head and falls apart for long periods..Angelo was better than usual but not a true dual threat. This team has moments, but also has a tremendous amount of work to do to be a true contender.

Run some dam plays on O also. Not just out of a timeout but actually during game. Change stuff up do something do anything at all. Also if it’s low shot clock n there is no look throw the dam ball into corner n set up whatever it is u call it cause it’s not a ride that’s for sure. Joey not sure if was pass or just a desperate shot cause low clock n goalie easily saved it. He’s suppose to be smart yet bonehead play. Throw it into corner get ur dmids on.

The seniors n captains better be in that locker room telling everyone they need to step up n be better including themslves. Cause keep playing the way they have this season can be over quickly. Need to get wins ya should get without doubt. Harvard n princeton solid teams yes. Harvard game def should have n could have been won. Princeton was chance to get win even with the poor start but just once again can get out of their own way. So seniors n captains better lead by example n finish this road trip 4-0

Trying to contextualize everything and step off the ledge.

If you told me coming into the season that we'd split the UMD Princeton games I'd probably have been okay with it. The Harvard loss was frustrating for many reasons but not unexpected.

There's a lot of season left including a game on Sunday against a quality team that's currently giving UNC a fight. They have plenty of opportunities for quality out of conference wins and then they have the ACC. Lots of opportunities on the table.

Have to compartmentalize this and get ready for Penn. If they don't have the mental toughness, this road stretch will destroy their season. Gotta chin up, learn from it, get better and move on.

The challenge of course has been the way that this team has lost - it's not encouraging. A complete return to the issues of yesteryear, the inability to adjust, and the inability to learn from things and get better.

All the team's goals are ahead of it but they (the players AND the coaches). Have to reflect and put the work in to get better. They are not currently good enough. They can be. But no other team is going to wait for it, they have to make it happen.

Not much there to be honest. Schedule excuse was mentioned but not much of substance beyond that. Brent asking about Mullen and the sun the only real non softball questions as usual.

Axe didn't mention that we moved Finn down low and ran Leo out of the box in the 2nd half?

Sun must have been in his eyes.
