Look like potential run up the score opponents compared to the locals around here that tend to be ranked 125-150.So Monmouth (258) and Hofstra (218) are better fits for gaming the NET system?
Those are the type of teams all the long athletic guys can get blocks, steals and dunks.Look like potential run up the score opponents compared to the locals around here that tend to be ranked 125-150.
I hear you...but theyre already playing kansas, houston and tennessee in the non-con...dont wanna risk having the season be over before it starts st johns and uconn are pretty tough at the momentHonestly, Red’s scheduling has been so-so his first couple of years. We should be playing an old Big East rival in NYC every year, preferably at MSG. We should be playing two of Gtown, UConn, Nova or St John’s every year. We should be playing regularly in DC and Philly, if not every year, every other year. (Glad to see they added a game in Philly. Too bad it’s not against Nova.) To me, it’s just more evidence of his lack of vision for Syracuse basketball, which should be both charting new territory but also honoring the past.
Might be less costly buy games also.Look like potential run up the score opponents compared to the locals around here that tend to be ranked 125-150.
It's been a huge improvement in both programs, and I point to one thing more than any other. Recruiting.Tell you one thing... I haven't been this excited for combination of basketball and football collectively in a decade. Huge upgrade in talent on the basketball side. And I think overall a significant upgrade on the football side even without McCord. Can't wait! Both the football and basketball schedules have tremendous opportunity
I completely agree 23Z. A random thought I had and was talking to my buddies about was that this is the first year in like forever I was seriously considering buying jerseys.Tell you one thing... Seeing a game there has been on my sports bucket list for a long time. I love old rickety arenas with tons of history and character. I don’t need to feel like I’m at a spa when I attend a sporting event.Would of loved for the game to be at The Palestra against any Philly team

The Hawk will never die!My Uncle took me to a doubleheader there over 50 years ago. I remember that St Joes was one of the teams playing, because my Uncle pointed out the Hawk who flapped his wings for the whole game. I think Nova played Penn in the second game.
For a 9-10 year old kid, the place seemed HUGE. It was bigger than Manley and the War Memorial, at least.
Degenerate Catholics?so who's going straight from South Bend to Vegas?!
Wait and see mode with basketball.Tell you one thing... I haven't been this excited for combination of basketball and football collectively in a decade. Huge upgrade in talent on the basketball side. I think you highlight the things that could go wrong pretty well here. Nice job.Wait and see mode with basketball.
Still not convinced our talent is good enough, even if it's a significant upgrade from what we had last year. Add that to the coaching questions I have, and I'm not sure it gets us to where we all want to be which is safely in the NCAA Tournament.
Is it possible? Sure. I am hopeful Donnie takes a leap, Kyle is able to use his athleticism and be a 20-25 minute starter at center, I am hopeful Nait George cuts down on turnovers and acclimates to SU, I am hopeful JJ also plays within himself and becomes a more consistent shooter, I am hopeful one or two of the freshmen are plug and play ready, I am hopeful the kid from Oregon State can be the knock down shooter we want and that his game translates to a level up from the WCC.
Those are a lot of questions. Same number of questions I had last year, to be honest. Probably some more potential answers than last year, but still a lot of questions.
The ACC is a level up from the WCC.I think you highlight the things that could go wrong pretty well here. Nice job.
I would point out it looks like you are grasping at straws with your critique of Kingz.
Oregon State, one year removed from the Pac10, played in a very good WCC, which was rated 7th by SRS and SOS, only two slots behind the ACC. By the NET rankings, though the WCC was closer in ranking to the ACC than we were to the Big 12. Really it was the P3 last season with a bunch of mid majors.
Also, Oregon State was right on the bubble, with a victory or two in the WCC conference tournament they would have been in... Kingz is stepping up a tiny bit in conference quality, and way down in quality of team, if such things matter at all in college basketball these days.
True... But it's not like William Kyle going from South Dakota State to UCLA... Last year, Kingz played well in essentially a peer conference. The ACC is a level up from the WCC.
ACC KenPom rating was +9.16, 5th place in all conferences
WCC KenPom rating was +4.24, 7th place in all conferences
That is a difference of 4.92. If you take that gap below the WCC, you get between the 11th & 12th conferences in the country.
There may be two rankings between them (5th vs. 7th), but the actual ratings are largely different.
