Heard last summer Raymond was in trouble if Hobart didn't have a better year, not surprised he's resigned. His teams have been getting progressively worse.

Hobart should drop down a level.
they dont need to drop down a level but theyd be a better fit in the NEC or MAAC. they are a little in over their heads in the A10...then again so is st. bonaventure...you could argue a lot of teams are in the wrong conference in this silly sport. hobart isnt very good but they did just beat umass...beat colgate and providence a couple years ago...they arent winning any titles any time soon but if we're relegating teams to d3 then there are a bunch i'd start with before bart...

Weren't they a weird tiebreaking rule away from making the A10 tournament this year? Also I don't think they've had any scholarships, and going forward they will, I have to imagine that makes a big difference.

Hobart has had some good teams not too long ago. 2019 they were 11-5, before the season shut down in 2020 they gave Syracuse a game an finished 4-1. They've had some legit players, Eric Holden played on that 2021 Maryland team. Jason Knox, Ryan Archer, Derrick Madonna were all good players, and remember hoping would come to Syracuse at some point.

Curious what sort of coach they'll be able to draw. Raymond was the defensive coordinator at Princeton before joining the Statesmen. Would someone like Jordan Stevens from Cornell, one of the Princeton assistants (Jim Mitchell or Jeremey Hirsch), or Paul Richards from Richmond (and from CNY) be interested? I don't know how successful you can be at a place like Hobart over the long term, but have to think having scholarships will be a big help.

I'd regulate them to D2. They're an also ran and have been since the day they moved up. 191-225 since 1995.

The same will be said of Merrimack, LeMoyne, Queens and the rest. Their ceiling is Siena.

While I'm on it I'd love to see one of the state schools, namely Cortland, move up to D2.

Why D3 is more competitive then D2 IMHO

Aren't all of the Bonnies' other teams in the A-10?

Hobart fans seem pretty delusional as to who they think will take that job. They think Casey Powell could be a candidate.

In fairness, I think that was one poster and it got shot down pretty quickly.

I do wonder if they are getting their hopes up for a big name that won’t happen. Paul Richards, Jeremy Hirsch, Jordan Stevens seem all like the next hot names on a national level. Would they try their luck at Hobart? There are only so many jobs so maybe.

I did find it curious that they are totally out on Pat March. Because of the Cornell game last year? I can’t quite understand the animosity there.

Another Syracuse name I saw bandied about was Paulo Ciferi who’s at Cornell now. Seems a bit young to take over as a head coach somewhere but still nice to see an SU alum get positive reviews.

It wasn't just Powell, it was every coach that is a coordinator for a national championship contending team. Hobart is just not a step up from that no matter what they try to tell themselves. Maybe they throw a whole bunch of money at someone but they're just setting themselves up for disappointment.
