In a brief but tense postgame news conference, Kansas State coach Jerome Tang questioned his team's pride after a 91-62 loss to Cincinnati, saying, "These dudes do not deserve to wear this uniform."

No idea if that was a motivator to find cause and terminate him, and I haven't watched the actual press conference, but I really don't have a problem with the quotes in the article. The players are professionals many earning multiples of the fans who pay them. If they don't try, they deserve this type of talk. And a high level athlete should use that as motivation not sulk about it.

"These dudes do not deserve to wear this uniform," Tang said. "There will be very few of them in it next year. I'm embarrassed for the university. I'm embarrassed for our fans and our student section. It is just ridiculous." He continued: "It means something to wear a K-State uniform. It means something to put on this purple, and everything this university is about and why I love this place. They don't love this place, so they don't deserve to be here."

Good, schools should honor the contract

If they had a better record it would mean they weren’t habitually coming up short. So he wouldn’t have the pent up angst to blow a gasket. I guess history tells us what would happen. Has he ever done this before ?

Yes he had prostate cancer about 15 years ago during his stint with St John’s but returned to coach because I thought treatment was successful.
