The picks also could be pretty weak and Utah wants to win games
Only 1 pick being Utahs. I don’t see the fit here with Kessler, JJJ, and Markkanen. Two of the bigs can play on the perimeter which is doable offensively, but how would that group defend much quicker , faster players?

and 2 of the 3 rebound like they are 6-2 guards

Yeah I'm not saying it was a wise move lol but I think what I said is Utah's justification. Could also have more shake ups between now and the deadline

Kessler will move on I assume.

I’m still in disbelief. My Bulls have made three trades already over the past few days. I still think they trade Coby or Ayo. Also, think they flip Mike Conley somewhere else.

Trade 1: Helped facilitate the Cavs/Kings trade by taking Saric into a trade exception while also gaining two second round picks (one of which was the NOP, so likely will be at the top of the second). Had to send their last man on the bench out to Cavs.

Trade 2: Packaged Huerter, Saric, & a protected 1st round pick swap (from Minnesota) for Jaden Ivey & Conley Jr.

Trade 3: Sending Vucevic and a 2nd for Anfernee Simons and a 2nd. This one isn’t officially complete yet but will get done as they could add/tweak it.

The Bulls are basically all guards/wings with the exception of Jalen Smith, Zach Collins (likely out for the year), Olbrich (2nd round rookie from Australia), and Patrick Williams. Someone please take Pat, haha!

Celtics need size maybe? OrbTatums coming back? Oviously salary plays a role in all this.

As Scalabrini said last night, Garza and Queta are both playing more minutes this year than they ever had, so having a third rotation guy will help them as well. We’ve not gotten anything from Tillman or Boucher lately so the middle needed support. And Simons was expensive. Think the Celts are saving $20 million in tax.

The trade grades are pretty good for Utah and they could still make another trade, but I think they can play the three big guys together. They did it with John Collins and JJJ is a better defender. Plus, when Kessler sits, they can slide JJJ into the 5 and bring Cody Williams or Ace Bailey into the front court.

They still have Filipkowski. Not sure what his trade value is, as he is a poor defender, but he brings energy off the bench.

And I would think Nurkic will be traded. I said that before they picked up JJJ, but I don't know if they do it now or after they re-sign Kessler. But they are not going to need him.

I personally love that Utah is trying this even if it could ultimately backfire. Wish more teams did stuff like this. I am very intrigued to see how it works out. One potential issue: JJJ and Lauri are both pretty wretched rebounders. Kessler is very good in that regard but I am curious to see if they get killed in the non Kessler minutes.

What's crazy is that they have Oscar Tshiebwe on their G League roster who cannot crack their NBA roster. He has led the G League in rebounds by a huge margin the last couple years and did the same in college.

In limited NBA time, he has done well as a spot fill in, especially rebounding, but hasn't been called up for any serious length of time.

It's really too bad AD just can't stay healthy. I think he's basically a 40-50 game guy at best any year at this point.

Since leaving UK he’s never looked in good shape playing and looking heavier than he should. It’s a shame he didn’t take that part of being a pro as seriously as he should.

I'm not sure why but AD just never seems to get the respect he deserves. He's an historically elite player on both ends of the floor. He's 5th in league history in PER, 34th in VORP. Probably translates to a Top 25 or so player in league history.

He’s lucky he got a bubble title or he’d be Harden 2.0.
