2025-26 NBA

What on Earth is this court in Philly? The paint looks like a urinal.

Steven A smith must retire immediately. Sure , talking heads say so much stuff that they are going to be wrong from time to time . But he’s had SEVERAL episodes of being so absolutely wrong that it’s disqualifying from having any remaining credibility. Add tonight to the ledger .. cause this absolute STOOOGE said he thought Curry shouldn’t even play in this game ! Yes .. he said this .. the idiot Kermit the frog lookin’ dude actually said this.

Imagine how stooooopid he must feel right now .. I’m not a curry or GSW fan. I had no rooting interest in that game. I just wanted to be entertained and boy did curry et al do that

He can’t feel stupid. He doesn’t have sufficient self-awareness or humility. And even if he did, he is still rewarded by clicks, mentions, and money.

It occurs to me that to best get the younger generation to understand why we hold Jordan in such high esteem, and are hesitant to say any player since is “superior” to him….would be to tell them to imagine 25-30 years into the future . Now imagine THEIR KIDS trying to tell them some random future player was a better shooter than Curry.

I kinda feel bad for people who don’t like the NBA.
I like the playoffs. Regular season is awful. And I’m a huge basketball fan. 82 games. Stars often hurt or not playing. Teams tanking. 30+ blowouts almost every night. And now games on streaming devices.

The nba has a real regular season problem. Several of my friends like me watched less nba than we ever have this year.

Been waiting months for the playoffs to finally arrive and thankfully they did!

Stars being hurt so often is significant for me, too.
But, tanking? I don’t watch those teams’ games, so that feels irrelevant. Having all games available via streaming means I don’t need to watch 30pt blowouts. I just switch to a better game. I’m pretty much forced to use a streaming service because on my location, so I don’t regard that as a bad thing. Every game in one place, and I don’t have to search on network tv, espn, tnt, etc. Very convenient.

My problem is that I watch too many regular season games.

Yeah the product when both teams are engaged in winning is really top notch.
Which means not at all in the regular season. I’m an NBA fan but no league has rendered their own regular season so meaningless as this league (although bettman is trying really hard to surpass them). The talent level is so far beyond anything in any other league that at times we take it for granted.

It’s interesting to read some of these comments and then see that apparently the tv ratings were up this year.

Tha said I think the regular season is too long and the tanking sucks. A 66 game regular season would almost certainly make for a better product.

Ive heard that too and I don’t buy it at all.

Regular season is simply not at all fun to watch anymore. Outside of, again, a few games here or there.

Been telling my friends that do still watch to wake me up in May lol. Obviously we’re getting some great games here in April and hopefully that continues in the actual playoff series next week.

And I say all this as someone whose favorite sport is basketball!

Just curious, do you have a favorite team? I think I can understand your point if you’re just a general fan of hoops. The talent is insane these days, and I’m really lucky to be a Celtics fan at a time when they’ve exceeded expectations and have been really good for a solid chunk of time.

No favorite NBA team, which is part of it. I have teams I root for because of players I like. Warriors, Nuggets as examples. Wouldn’t mind seeing Pistons do well this year.

As a kid I liked the Knicks but it never stuck as I got older and now I actually root against them in some ways.

The talent is off the charts. The thought of 2 more teams is funny to me. That’ll surely help tanking. Not. Celtics had a great year. Nothing like watching them shoot 80 threes a game either, it’s the best 😉.

Fair

I watch nearly every Knick game that I can (i am a sicko) and i also acknowledge that a lot of the regular season is kind of meaningless. The Knicks played the Hawks in a really fun game in the last week of the season (Knicks Celtics a few days later was also like this) and it was kind of striking, because it was two good teams both really trying to win with all of their players healthy, and I hadn't seen the Knicks play many games like that in the month prior.

Brunson is really impressive and a great great acquisition by NY, but I have to say his style of play I strongly dislike. I know, many players foul bait and it’s a part of why they are so good. And he’s absolutely a top clutch player. But his game is extremely irritating to me as a viewer and non-fan.

Not to mention his liability on D.

Hawks have surged a lot the last couple of months. I’m looking forward to that series. Jalen has become a stud for them as the playmaker after they traded Trae.

I think I watched less NBA this year than I have since maybe the mid 2000’s. I’d have games on as background noise, but I don’t remember sitting down watching a full game end to end. Too many guys sitting out and stars never playing against each other. Bad teams not even trying. I’ll watch the playoffs though.

Least I've watched since the 2000s as well. In this case it was a culmination of Syracuse being bad (decreased my basketball interest), the Kings being awful and the resurgence of the Buffalo Sabres just dropped basketball down the priority list. It was interesting seeing the ratings being way up after moving away from ESPN and TNT.

How easy is it to root for the Hornets ? You got a woman beater, reckless driver, and cheap shot artist all on the same squad. So fun !
