2025-26 NHL Season

they not only traded 1st round picks to the bruins and flyers for mediocre vets, they included young useful players in the deal (Minton to boston and Gebenkin or however you spell it to the flyers. ) i mean the prices they paid was nuts considering the MEH they got back.

Part of the reason for the higher payments (be it the additional prospect or going from 2nd to 1st), was that both were non rentals. Furthermore, Flyers had to retain part of Laughton's salary. If you are going to give a first in those type of deals, it has to be for that upcoming draft (so you know its not worse than 20th)

In retrospect the Leafs aware that Marner was leaving, and not knowing where they were headed should have stuck to rentals at the March 2025 deadline, that would not have cost a first round pick. Those future first rounders are tough to swallow right now.

Alex Ovechkin with a hat trick tonight(at 40 years old) -- ## 905, 906, 907, as the Caps beat Montreal 8-4 in Montreal.

Here's #905, 1 minute into the game and ONE SECOND into a power play.

So Im very frustrated with the changes to the ESPN phone and TV streaming AP experience. Last year I would watch games after the fact without issue and without commercial interruption. Now ESPN has gone and created this new more expensive tier for viewing which I AM paying for yet I am FORCED to sit through ads when watching archived games. So let me get this straight: I am paying more and receiving less?

Par for the course in this crappy world we now live in.

don't get to watch the isles much but i did see them take down vegas on prime in an OT shootout. like what i'm seeing this year. #1 pickSchaefer looks like the real deal.
i always try to catch at least 1 game when they make the northern swing. between syracuse , the dolphins and islanders man it's been some mighty lean years.

Ive watched almost every game this season cover to cover. Its one of the most enjoyable seasons ive had as a fan so far. They are fun to watch

well i mean it's not stefanperrsonfeedsmikebossyscore! fun but yes much better .
as i said above ...i've become somewhat numbed to the joys of winning .

I looked at tickets for this when it went on sale - the prices were crazy. I went to the Devils-Rangers outdoor game a couple years ago, this was at least 50% more. I think they’ve successfully marketed this as an “big event” to draw in fans - but it’s so far from their fan base which is more north of Fort Lauderdale that I’m not expecting a particularly astute hockey crowd.

I would think alot of displaced New Yorkers might be wanting to see the other team .

And visiting ones also. Probably why they scheduled them. The Panthers always schedule home games vs. the Rangers and Montreal Canadiens around Christmas and New Year's. Always Montreal. Although there are many fewer people from Canada spending the winter here this year.

I used to take my kids to Florida between Christmas and New Year and go to the Montreal game - haven’t done that in years since my buddy who worked for the Panthers can’t hook me up with cheap tickets anymore and I had to sell my place in Florida - but the absolute collapse in Canadiens fans at the game was obvious for years. I think there was a drop from pre-COVID to post-COVID, then another in 2024. At this point it’s more of a tradition than a revenue boost to the Panthers. Tickets to the Rangers game were never an option, so not a shock that’s the outdoor game opponent.

I did learn from those games that Montreal fans are awesome (at minimum the ones who go to road games). Super friendly and playful with my kids when they were single-digit ages.

Given their two straight Stanley Cups, the Panthers don't have the attendance problems they used to have. That was a main reason for scheduling Montreal during the holidays. South Florida is a tough place to draw fans to sporting events. Too many other things to do. There are always tickets available for the Dolphins' game, regardless how they are doing. I think the team used to buy up the unsold tickets so it would officially be a sellout and be on local TV. The Heat fans are notorious for arriving during the 2nd period and leaving after the 3rd. Not like true fans in most northern cities. Or even in the Dome when we have good teams. And it's amazing that the Marlins are still surviving. Their ballpark is a great place to see a baseball game. You can always get tickets, parking garages are right there and available, and the stands are close to the field. And you don't have to worry about the weather since the roof is closed most of the season.

I miss them being terrible. I used to get $20 club tickets from my buddy who worked for the team - the last year he could do that was their first Stanley Cup Finals appearance.

I can still get Marlins tickets for around $6 when I’m down in south Florida…I doubt any level of success is going to make baseball work in Miami. Hockey works since so many people with money come down for the winter, and the team plays in an arena located to appeal to that demographic. They just needed to get good enough to get those folks to start buying tickets. There’s not enough corporate sponsors or fans to draw crowds for baseball.

Fantastic run for the sabres. They canned their GM which was great in the middle of it as well.

It is odd to go on a big winning streak after canning a GM and you make no roster moves ... happens when you bring in a new coach.

Maybe Adams did make some decent moves in the end -- I had heard though he had become overwhelmed in that position so had to move on,

Agreed doesn’t make a ton of sense.. any of it other than Sabres are healthier now than they have been all year. The goal tending has been I think the best in the league last 10 games which probably won’t be sustained. Going to be tough tonight to get 10 in a row at Dallas. They also lost a ton of OT games earlier in the year that they now seem to be winning

Nice to see them get back in the mix though.gotta get to the playoffs and end the drought
