That was a great win!
Break up the Sabres. Eight in a row.
Yeah I think getting to the playoffs for the first time in 16 years might help. They have a long long ways to goBest team In buffalo right now.
Ah, well. It had to end sometime. Big challenge is to rebound and play like the loss never happened. Lots of home games to get back on track.Sabres got a great chance to go 11-0 vs Columbus now.
Looked great for 2 period last night, got a bit dicey in the 3rd but nice rebound win. At exactly the halfway point of the season They are going to need to continue to play well to make the playoffs though because as of right now they are a point out of the 8 spot and 3-4 teams a point behind them.Ah, well. The whole Eastern Conference is extremely tight. 6 teams are within 3 points of a Wild Card spot and only 12 points separates all 16 teams. Super tight. Each game is significant for every team.Looked great for 2 period last night, got a bit dicey in the 3rd but nice rebound win. It really is. The Sabres 10 win streak just got them back into the mix for what will most likely be a 7-8 seed ( best case) in playoffs nothing more nothing less and like you said every game is so big now even though there are 40-42 left. Don't get me wrong, the streak was great to see and saved the season but they could very very easily miss the playoffs yet again. Last night case in point, their goal play has been wildly inconsistent all year other than the 10 game streak and that type of play at goal was probably never sustainable for them. Doesn't matte if it's Lyon, Luukkonen or even Ellis with the 7-8 games he's playedThe whole Eastern Conference is extremely tight. 6 teams are within 3 points of a Wild Card spot and only 12 points separates all 16 teams. Nice. I think at this point any team in the East can either be in or out of the playoffs at the end. What will matter most for any team is if they get on a winning streak or a losing streak. But from where they were 4 weeks ago, it's been a pleasant surprise and nice for the fans as well as the players and staff to have some success. Team looks so much better and having some fun as well which is great

Ovi goal #913 tonight. He later had #914 on an ENG in a Caps 7-4 win over the Anaheim Ducks.

Big win last night for Sabres after a tough one vs the Panthers on Monday. Another big one vs the Habs tonight. no rest for the wicked. Would be a great win on back to back nights
They need to get to the playoffs this year for sure, just been way too long. This team started rough but playing as well as anyone right now but given their start there is still a ton of work to do. The East is just so tight.I'm a Devils fan, but I lived in greater Buffalo during the '99 Stanley Cup Finals run. That was absolutely electric, the entire city was following the team (I remember the city-specific ratings were absurd). Morning meetings at work had to start with ten minutes talking about the either the game the previous night or the upcoming playoff game all spring, otherwise people weren't going to pay any attention in the meeting. They would just want the meeting to end so they could talk about what really mattered, the Sabres. When I'm in western NY I still see "No Goal" bumper stickers on cars made well after '99 - people had to have bought a lifetime supply with plans to put on every car they bought until the Sabres won the Cup.
I'd love to see the Sabres get into the playoffs and make a run - while people will disagree I think hockey is a bigger deal in Buffalo than any other American city (including Boston and Detroit) so the NHL is better when Buffalo is good.
