Class of 2026 2025-26 Portal

Cox has been first team all Patriot League defense the past two years.

His numbers on evanmiya.com are good. Not as good as some of the PGs we have discussed but good.

36.5% from the 3 point circle.
I wasn’t replying to a specific player or post, just in general for Gerry to target two way players.

Do we think he’s better than Braeden who sat out last year to go to Gonzaga? Braeden averaged 17 mpg 5.6 ppg and 3.1 apg and often had limited minutes against better opponents. As an example of a Gate PG stepping up in competition definitely a let down.

Nellie Cummings a couple years before that did do pretty well for Pitt - nothing special but was productive for a team that made the tourney.

As long as Gerry targets two way players (not like Betsey who can shoot but does NOTHING ELSE), I’ll be happy. Need some shooters for sure, but not shooters who can’t defend.
FWIW, Betsey was considered a 3nD guy before he got here lol

Evan Miya does not. I have included performance metrics for some of the PGs we may (or may not) be looking at. Also included percentage from the 3 point circle because a couple people are placing extreme value on that stat.

PlayerOBPRDBPRBPR3 PT %
Braeden Smith3.421.885.3033.3 (17-51)
Jaden Cox2.641.223.8636.6 (19-52)
Chance Westry4.611.255.8624.1 (21-87)
Leroy Bleden Jr3.700.744.4440.7 (77-189)
Dedan Thomas Jr5.230.846.0730.1 (13-43)
Rowan Brumbaugh3.120.333.4437.3 (57-153)
Nait George3.371.775.1429.3 (36-123)

People have strong opinions on various players. Thought introducing objective ratings might be helpful.

These numbers are from the season just ending. Smith’s BPR at Colgate 2 season’s ago was 3.98.

There's no room for objectivity on a fan message board.

What would George look like if he had a 2-guard who could shoot the 3 and a coach that insisted he stop some of the chucking he did this year?

MCW you say??? Hmmmm. On that note - one of their worst defenders and only averaged 1.7 apg to 1 TO at 6-1

I think the unforced turnovers are going to cause GMac to go in a different direction at PG. if you take Gerry at his word, there is no way George remains on the roster.

Some of the 3s he missed were due to a broken offense where players stood around and looked at each other. But he looked to shoot early in the clock way too often, especially during the second half of the season. I can’t believe Adrian wanted him doing this but the players apparently did what they wanted most of the season.

I was shocked.how good Nait’s defensive number was on Evan’s site. He got beat one on one all the time.

We will what happens soon.

Chance’s chance was a few chances ago. He had his chance. I don’t think we should take another chance on Chance. Too much of a chance, imo.
How many years has he been in college? Is he Dr. Chance Westry yet?

Lot of portal tweets from mid major guys planning to portal with high scoring averages that have weak efficiency and defensive numbers per Evan Miya I’m noticing.
