Class of 2026 2025-26 Portal

Seeing tweets flying around that the better bigs in the portal are going to have asking prices around 3 mil similar to rumblings on Donnie. Seems thats almost always being over played with agent chatter but still wild.

We supposedly have the money. If so don't skimp and pay the market for a top center. Time to see how serious we are.

Any penny st or vcu players to keep an eye on?
These two are already in the portal for State Penn. Dillione was their leading scorer. Believe he is a PG.

Tunca is from Turkey. Good shooter who struggled some in limited minutes. Believe he is a 6’5 SG.

The guy we want to see portal is Mingo. He is a PG and led the B1G in steals as a frosh. Played with Kiyan at Lutheran. 4 star great athlete but not a good outside shooter.

PSU has dimming hopes they can get the younger Mingo, who is finishing his senior year at Lutheran. Jamal recruited Ted them both and I think we might get one if we come up with some cash.

Neither are greet shooters but both are terrific athletes with elegance ye defensive skills. I know some of you believe everyone we recruit has to be a good shooter but the best teams have great defenders and shooters and shot blockers and guys who excel at driving. A Mingo would be imho a great add.

Yes we gotta add another shooter or two as well (and a good center) but we can’t afford to turn down elite athletes that do everything well at PG but shoot.

Yeah Mingo would be the only one worth taking from PSU. Would be good to see if anyone from VCU jumps into the portal as well.

Strongly, strongly disagree.

The key is to increase talent. We have the resources to do so. Inefficiently used resources that increase talent are superior to unused resources.
Yes but don’t overpay for one player I mean.

If some team wants to pay Donnie with his injury issues 3 million we should see his name in the portal now. No way su should pay him even more than 1 million.

Again, strongly, strongly disagree.

There's not a salary cap at play here.

If overpaying for a guy is the difference between having a stronger roster that's more competitive and we have the resource pool to do it, vs we "save" the resources by not overpaying and not having as much talent on the roster to help us compete, we have to get the guy.

We can't have this stuff both ways. Either GMAC is inspiring the NIL to come in and we get the best roster possible, or we play some imaginary frugality game and roll the dice.

The thing with Freeman is it was always going to be a he or White would stay. Not both. And I thought we were higher on White than Freeman at this point. I don't care if we have 12-13 million or not, we still need to make intelligent decisions. He's missed a lot of game time with soft tissue injury.

Really feels like it has to be one or the other. Hope it's Sadiq

He’s missed a lot of games he’s actually played in. I wouldn’t even offer him the stipend to come back.

There is absolutely room to overpay one player. Since we have the resources as well as a door to knock for more .. such as Melo for example..

Also we are bringing in two guys who are good recruiters with connections plus a GM… there is a lot of new blood and minds to plug into building out a roster and mixing and matching big fish with underrated guys etc. You still have to be smart but just in making sure anyone you overpay, it’s part of the plan.

Donnie wants the big pay day but Sadiq has the higher value. Donnie, the way he plays, needs to add 25 lbs and a low post game. His footspeed is below average, he plays a little above the rim but not much and is not quick getting his shot off from outside. Add that to the injury history and his NIL ask is off the reservation unless 60 pct of that is incentive driven.
