Honestly shocked we have not heard ANYTHING from Freeman, Anthony, Sadiq, Souare or Fennell with the portal opening within just hours. Even if they are just stating they are coming back. Obviously Anthony is coming back. Freeman and Souare I for sure thought would be in the portal by now. Sadiq and Fennell are 50/50 I think. I wonder if G-Mac is willing to overpay Freeman a bit if Sadiq leaves. I think G-Mac wants one of the two to stay. I think he’d probably prefer Sadiq and the way he plays, not injury prone. So if he gets the sense that Sadiq is leaving he is willing to overpay Freeman a bit. 100% fine with Fennell staying as a backup PG. Get a starting caliber PG in the portal, Fennell backs him up and Moesch behind Fennell. I think Fennell can 100% play at this level. I also think we had an incompetent staff the last 3 years that had no idea how to evaluate talent lol

I really think part of Red's problem was he got hung up on giving the players he started too much leeway, even when it was obvious, it wasn't a winning strategy. And unless he can change he will forever be an assistant coach.
You have to put your personal feelings aside
if you want to be a great leader.

Sadiq seems like a great fit with Gerry. Fennell I don't know what to make of him. Agree the staff has evaluation and cohesion issues.

If GMAC is down, I don’t see a problem to bring him back as depth piece. Though there is plenty of these types of players in the portal, so this is just the player you know. It was so unnecessary to let him go last season tbh. Plenty of games this season we needed his rebounding.

Or maybe follows Engelstad up to Pepperdine. He wouldn’t get much run here even as a backup as he isn’t a great defender, shoots 28 pct from 3 and is only 6-8 and not much of an athlete. He is mid major level at best or end of bench above that.

It is difficult to evaluate how good some of our players are because Autry struggled as a HC so much.
