Class of 2026 2025-26 Portal

[it's early but] despite the prevailing sentiment that gmac needs a splash portal haul, seems like he's going with lowkey spread out foundational construction, relying on coaching up and culture building and fans' buy-in/patience. And maybe it's a mis-calculation on that fans piece.

Bold strategy cotton! He needs 2 superstars and 1 very good starter to add to this bunch. The fan are going to quit on him if he assembles a bunch of mediocre talent after we heard the donors stepped on the scale to "force" SU to hire an insider. With that said, I'm being patient and it's early so I'm hoping he just filled the back-half first and will land a few big fish. No mis-steps yet, but he needs some high-end talent soon.

We'll have to wait and see, both about the roster and how they perform. But unless some guys make huge leaps or M3 is a star right away, then it looks like Doty is currently our lead player. I really like that we got him, but if that ends up being true then it looks like a rocky start.

We're mostly targeting centers and point guards, right? The scoring has to come from somewhere. Are PGs leading the team in scoring all that common? Or is our superstar hopes best put on a monster center?

Like it’s been said the entire portal is a bit stalled out right now. Agents are flooding social media with info and trying to max out everything and it’s chaos. It’s very quiet on the GMac front with little coming out on our side which is letting rumor and speculation get in front of actual facts.

Asking price and school price way off. Perhaps we're taking baby steps towards market corrections.

I wouldn't really say it's slanted towards any individual position, but for example, among power conferences, some of the top scorers in the country this past season were:
  • Darius Acuff
  • Ebuka Okorie
  • Labaron Philon
  • Nick Boyd
  • Bruce Thornton
  • Terrence Brown
  • Bennett Stirtz
  • Tyler Tanner
A bunch of non-power conference guys up there too. I reckon PG was probably the most prevalent position among the top 50 scorers in the country this year.

WOAH! BC? Luke Murray parting gift? UConn about to get super involved now with Hines if I were to guess. Could totally see Michigan getting involved for Reibe here as well….

Your rational take is not welcome on this psychotic board, get outta here!

UConn has no bigs left. Him and Hurley must have a difference of opinion on his skill set…….
Or they found an upgraded center that will not allow him to gain more minutes (a few out there) and decided to mutually part ways. But his advanced metrics are pretty good for a freshmen, he will be a hot commodity in the portal. Could be a parting gift to Luke, kind of how Fran took a few guys with him from Georgia. Though, this is a pretty big parting gift lol.

Kind of a mildly discouraging couple of days.

Got off to a good start with the unexpected 3M commitment, then Doty, and even Goodrick [who at minimum is a better backup center option than Souare was last year, which is valuable]. It was also nice to get White back [and Kiyan to a lesser extent vis a vis importance].

Then a couple of misses, and a quiet few days. Maybe that's just the way the market will unfold every year -- quick flurry, followed by a slow lull as negotiations take place. But it hasn't been as quick of a process as I think most were hoping for [to be expected, just seemed like we got off to a hot start].
