Class of 2026 2025-26 Portal

No one had any idea 3M was going to happen. My take is don't get caught up in all the agent driven tweets. Things are being played quietly by the staff. I wager there may still be a surprise or two before all is said and done. It's still early.
Things are always played “quietly” when you can’t get top talent. It’s clear they don’t have the money this board claimed

No idea if he intends to stay in the NBA Draft or not, but Allen Graves has entered the transfer portal with a Do Not Contact tag. Probably a strong argument for him as the #1 player in the portal; I have to imagine he already has offers from all the blue bloods.

How is it clear? There is little to any movement right now. Multiple people have made it clear money isn’t an issue. There is too little patience here. If 50 top transfers come off the board and no news around SU then ok but all the we don’t have the resources when the portal is barely moving is just impatience.

It’s not wise for a program in our scenario aiming to flip things around to leak what we are up to like a sieve. It’s common sense.

He’s from Louisiana. I’d imagine if Wade wants him he’s got him.

For the 10th time today, 3 of the top 50 transfers have committed as of today. That's to cardiac and the other clowns posting. JPE to Michigan is one of them

Based on the radio silence when called out it’s pretty clear people are posting stuff from things out there like Trilly…

That paired with stuff passed around burner accounts too. There are some trustworthy resources out there connected to the SU side of things and I’d rather pay attention to those and their take knowing the access they have.

Portal social media activity has gone the way of the Reddit meme stock craziness.

Okay, I'll chime in here. A couple of thoughts. In my experience covering Syracuse basketball recruiting over the years, especially when it comes to the portal, things seem to be done more quietly than at other schools, in terms of visits, interest, etc. Secondly, as some have alluded to, only a few of the top-ranked transfer prospects have found a home. The portal has been open for three days. Syracuse has two returnees and three commits. Plenty of spots open. I wouldn't freak out yet that Syracuse hasn't announced a PG or a center, for example. Let's see how next week plays out. Wouldn't surprise me if there are visitors on the Hill this weekend. It's almost 5 pm. I'm headed to happy hour.

Bro yes I am nervous too but you gotta relax and see what happens. We are up there with 12 million. The top talent will go to schools with top top dollars. We need to find the correct pieces who for Gmac and his vision. We are not what we used to be. We need to win and prove ourselves before we can get back. I trust Gmac and the crew will bring in the best they can and be a winning team who makes the tourney. Then we gotta grow from there. Everyone needs a chill pill. Also the market has risen which hurts. But not exactly many people have signed yet.

Disagree. He was pretty solid for a freshman big. He’s better than anyone we’re likely to bring in.
Yep...averaged 12 and 5 when Reed was out. People also said Mara was trash after his freshman and sophomore years at UCLA. Change of scenery and additional opportunity did him well. Reibe will also likely shine more wherever he ends up.

Now that is a real post from someone who actually has a life, Congratulations Neil, and have fun!!

Also the real alarm bells that should be ringing is if middle of the pack ACC teams start snagging guys that we showed real interest in. If we’re in the top third of ACC spend then we know what team we shouldn’t be losing bidding wars to.

Issue is there's a decent chance we won't really know if we lost a bidding war or if we simply weren't as interested in the player as this hypothetical other school was.

Let’s also put the portal into perspective. Syracuse like all other schools are buying personnel, paying for talent. There are very few recruits that are saying I want to go play at Syracuse because it’s Syracuse. Gavin Doty may be one of the few players in the portal that said I want to play for GMAC wherever he coaches for the rest of my career. We should be glad we have him committed but even then he got paid to come to Syracuse.

It is a buyer’s market and whichever team that show the recruit the money will/may get the recruit. Because of agents (who have to be paid), there will most likely be comparing/taking one offer from a school and bouncing it off other schools to see if there is a higher offer. This will go on and will frustrate schools that feel they are paying a reasonable price only to find out it is not enough.

Whatever the pot of money that the school is willing to pay, the Head Coach has to be the guardian of the money and ensure that he gets the right players at the right prices. There is no guarantee that whatever the cost that we get the right personnel. Look at what happened with Carlos, Lampkin and the other forward Syracuse got the first year of NIL participation. We all felt we were getting bang for the money. That sure change fast.

I wish GMAC and his staff the best in getting players. I’m getting to the point where I may thinking this is becoming more like the NBA and less focus is placed on player development. I really hate the NBA. Really hope that college basketball does not evolve into the NBA.
