Based on the few players SU has locked in so far, SU needs 2 more post players, a PG and clarification on whether or not Kingz may return. As of now, 2's are Doty & Kiyan, 3 is Mahmutovič, 4 is White. 5 is Goodrick.

Which players in the portal currently fit best with this group and the remaining amount of NIL that SU has to divy out?

There is no connection whatsoever between Syracuse and Drew Scharnowski (from Belmont) but he would fit in well with Francis Folefac I would think. Would love to see one or both of the Mingo brothers at SU but not sure if that's remotely realistic to wish for them. If I'm GMAC I spend for Scharnowski (or another do it all big) and try like heck to land Folefac, who is actually a fit on a GMAC coached SU roster - kid plays D and rebounds.

Beyond that, even if he does land Moesch, he needs a starting PG. Is there enough NIL $$ to make all of this happen? No idea, but it seems far fetched to think that SU can land two more bigs and a PG who doesn't turn it over a ton and can stay in front of people on defense.

Regarding Moesch - he's better right now than many think, but he'll need to physically develop in order to guard P5 PG's - and yes, he matched up pretty well against the Rippeys of the world, so we know he can play, despite his size.

For those curious on some numbers… top centers starting price is 4-5 million. Some have dropped down pretty substantially as of literally 24 hours. Things move ridiculously fast. Hard to get good intel from people.

Standstill from us is due to these numbers being ridiculous. Plan sounds like it’s to stay patient and find a good number + good fit. Personally, do I agree with it? Eh kinda.

Also, Folefac hasn’t been locked up due to other late suitors. Not sure if that’s been mentioned already. We are still right there for him. No clear leader, people have given him something to think about is what it sounds like.

Have heard that there is a mid-major player on campus right now. Nobody has mentioned him on this board. Leading scorer of his team. Would likely be another wing player to go with Anthony.

I would guess that the coaching staff will strictly play Doty at one of the two guard spots, with Anthony playing 2/3. International kid will be one option at small forward and this kid could be another.

It's reasonable to assume that the agents started the whole process by asking ridiculous numbers to drive the price up and try to get someone to bite. The smart schools knew exactly what was happening and are waiting it out. We have money and we will get some quality players. I am not an insider, but I am confident that GMac knows that he needs to hit the ground running and he knows the kinds of players he needs to win.

I think it’s a smart play. Agents want deals done quickly and at top of the market. The kids that are willing to take a little bit more time are best for both sides vs those focused only on getting paid.
