Since its out, yes. Source said he led team in scoring but meant best player on that team.

Has big upside. A little inconsistent with scoring. But shooting stroke is there to be a much better shooter. And effort is there consistently.

Agree. Better to play it safe than sorry. If he hits year one great but if he’s inconsistent you’ve got proven scorers to lean on.

Mayes is actually super intriguing, numbers don't initially jump off the page but he's a player on the rise.

He was a true freshman and over their last 5 games he averaged 16 points a game. He's also 6'5 200 and grabbed 5 rebounds a game as well. Super low volume three point shooter only took 1 a game but shot it at 35% and was 80% from the line. So their may be more there from 3 as well. Seems like an ascending player who would be great to get into the guard mix coming in as a sophmore

You’re right it’s hard to play a season with six guys.

Hah good one. Technically gmac coached better against Duke with only 6 guys than almost anyone last year.

I’m still hoping for a a shorter lineup with the 7 best guys come tourney time.

We should all remember GMacs team last year was decimated by injury and other stuff. He is going to want a deep roster then will eventually separate the wheat from the chaff.

Pretty much the opposite of Autry who thought it was wise to just keep rotating in the wheat and chaff randomly all damn year long

Yup. Cast a wide net on the guard room and make them compete for time and honestly just lowball them. Then get some elite strong big dudes and spend the big money on them.

The analytics show that the bigs are where it’s at and they’re expensive for a reason.

Combo and shooting guards are a dime a dozen and aren’t worth the money their agents think they’re worth cuz they scored a lot of points the year before.

Seems like good wingspan is an additional trait. Interesting roster with some holes still but plenty of portal time left.

Well, what’s that old saying about exceptions proving rules. If you look further, you’ll see that most of the top portal transfers were effective, and the farther down the list you go the lower the % is. Sure there are exceptions, but I’d prefer to go with the ofds.

He has a plan and is putting together the pieces to execute that plan. He will only deviate from that plan for an elite player that may not have positional size.
