Portal needs in order or priority:
1. QB: one who can be a back up but has experience
2. Experienced offensive linemen at least two starting calibre
3. Experienced Defensive linemen.. at least three starting caliber with one being an edge pass rusher
4. Experienced line backers.. at least one
5. Experienced safety; at least two

The biggest pitch is that it’ll be pretty easy to get on the field. Those types of guys can be riskier given their typically smaller body of work + the fact that there’s often a reason they don’t play much, but that’s also how we’ve drawn a lot of our best transfers these last two years (Meeks, Angeli, technically McCord, Peal, etc.).

I think we need to spend that maximum we can on Dline and linebacker. Steve will be back, and he will need a back up but our defense is brutal up front. Antoine is a stud and needs help but Dline is an emergency.

The portal doesn't open again until January 2nd.
Players whose coach has been fired this year can't enter the portal until five days after the new coach is hired or announced.

This is why the staff is offering and having JUCOs visit.

Yea but teams are already having players on visitors which is insane and guys are committing to teams right now.

I say 2 QBs but I added with the offensive line and the defensive line we might need even more to be honest and we need a speedy linebacker and I think we only need 1 safety.

OL as well they can’t push and open up
Holes for the running backs that’s why the running game stinks. We need a speedy linebacker that can get from sideline to sideline.

Dickens would be the perfect add to provide cover/possibly competition for Angeli and obviously there's the connection with him having gone to Northwestern. I'd imagine he's done enough this year to get a G5 or maybe even low P4 starting job, though.

Regardless, this is the type of guy we need to go after. Someone semi proven who can run the offense competently in the event that Angeli either isn't back or looks a lot worse coming back from a very severe injury. One of these types + a young upside flier with a bunch of eligibility for life post-Angeli and the room will be in great shape.
