I guess. But I still have to wonder how much money is available at the schools these players will transfer to. Other than Sophie. none of them are proven commodities. Good HS players, but off the bench and not sure they showed enough to get more $$ than we could give them.
I’d love to know how much some of these folks are getting. I don’t see how the math works out. Unless there are a lot of schools subsidizing women’s basketball, where is the money coming from? The scholarship cost alone eats into a substantial part of what the minimum veteran salary has been in the WNBA (in case of Syracuse it was everything). I know new contract is increasing those levels but even then, these are college players vs pros. There are only so many women in the wnba.

I get transferring for playing time but if these women are chasing money - I’m worried they are being misled or there are a lot of schools setting money on fire. The revenue simply isn’t out there beyond a few programs. It’s no wonder so many schools are in debt.

Approximately 1,510 women's college basketball players entered the transfer portal during the 2024–25 cycle. This accounted for nearly 30% of all players in the sport.
For context, the number of entrants has steadily climbed over the last few years:
  • 2024–25 Cycle: ~1,510 players
  • 2023–24 Cycle: ~1,405 players
  • 2022–23 Cycle: ~1,300 players
Any guess for this year?
1800? - might be too low🙁

1963.
Can’t see that number without thinking of that tragic day in late November.

But also, a much better day, just one month later: (It was) late December…a very special time for me…I didn’t even know her name…Hypnotizing, mesmerizing me…sweet surrender...as I recall, it ended much too soon (that wouldn’t be the last time:oops:)…Oh, what a lady...what a night!

(Sorry, I clearly have impulse control issues😉…I saw that number and it was “away we go!”)

Maybe this will be the Summer of '69.

Did notice that lot of Aussies entering portal, must think they want money.

So - has the whole "foreign players can't get NIL" thing changed??

Because if it has, then I 144% get it why they'd want to cash in,
especially if they were unable to prior.

Feels like there must be something going on up there. All the other ACC teams lost Coaches or bad season, we improved so why the mass exodus? So much for all this team chemistry.
my thought too, something is up that we haven't heard about
