Coaches that were fired today will not fix the bigger issues. They were not decision makers. Or play callers. These firings were trying to appease people. Guess we will see. There will be improvement with healthy quarterback.

Sounds like there are a couple of things rotten in the state of Denmark.

I'm not surprised at all, though. I've seen this song and dance from a similar type of head coach in a different sport at a different level. Heavy recruiter, said the right things publicly but was a mess behind the scenes.

Not insinuating all of this is true, or any of it, but this situation gives me those vibes. Was directly a part of it, and it wasn't pretty.

On the cuse.com site, I only see 4 coaches listed for defense: ERob (DC, AHC), Wright (LB, Co-DC), Schaefer (DB), Williams (Edge). Who is coaching the DT's? Is Fran technically a 50% DB coach? My guess, ERob will become (Co-DC, AHC, DT) and the new "Co-DC", who will be the primary behind the scenes, will coach one of the positions.

Unless Fran brings in someone who can put together a functional offense in case we don't have a great QB, all of this is a waste of time.

There is no logical argument to bring Erob back. His position group was the DTs who were horrible this season and got gashed on running. He is the DC who had a horrible defense last year with like 4-5 NFL guys on it. And in year 2 was literally the worst defense in the country. You can’t go from terrible defense year 1 to literal worst defense in year 2 and keep your job….im sorry

Sure seems like Fran is demoting E-Rob but keeping it quiet for a little while to give E Rob a chance to pursue another DC job. I suspect E Rob will either be gone, or be DC in title only (at best) here.

All that said it's kind of silly, anyone who would hire him will easily figure out that he's an elite recruiter who's not a good DC.

Brumfield came here with a lot of baggage. Georgia Tech fired him midway through the 2024 season. Possible there's more to the firing than just coaching.

Most assistant coaches run on 2 year deals, so I would suspect that some won’t be retained and they will move on.

Which isnt worth crap if you cant coach the talent. He has made it very obvious why he was never made a coordinator before
