We have a coach that's learning on the job. That was a decision we made (and one a lot of schools make, so I'm not criticizing that part). How he learns from this disaster will make him or break him as a head coach.

I think he still doesn't really know what he should or shouldn't say in pressers, but I think we've all learned by now not to place too much importance on any comment.

Losing your starting QB is really hard for any team. But having it lead to the worst 8 game stretch in program history, and ending with two of the most humiliating losses in program history, isn't acceptable. Fran knows this, but it will be interesting to see how much fixing he has to do.

yeah, every time we returned a kick from inside the 5 instead of calling a fair catch and not taking it at the 25.

Brutal.

Also not knowing how to handle punt returns.

The blocked kicks, almost blocked punts etc.

Way better than last season though. The return thing was my biggest issue but how hard is it to just say "fair catch everything" and if you don't @ss meet bench. Not having that directive is on Fran imo.

Middle management getting axed. Is this just the beginning or all that we see this offseason?

I didn't think so either. A couple hiccups here and there but not bad. FG kicking I thought was improved. My biggest issue was the green light returners seemed to have.
I thought that was strictly due to us being behind all the time and offense being unable to score … gotta get points from anywhere you can

Way better than last season isn’t saying much.

We can and will do better.

Kicking was much improved. Kickoff coverage was not an issue.

Punting was great. The ND block was bad... but Fran did not want to win anyway (starting Filardi proved it).
The one bad punt return (Pitt) was something that Fran caused.

Punt returns were blah... but I do not remember any missed opportunities.

Kickoff returns were a disaster. But we lost our #1 KR to injury early on. The decisions were horrible... but teams also recognized that it was better to kick to us at the 3 than get a TB. Are you telling me Fran lacked the power to say--no more returns????

We got a few onside kicks. Lost none.

What am I missing here? Seems like Fran is blaming the ST coach for his own failures. Not a good look.

Cannot really contest the other moves. Sorry for those families.
