2025 Fall Ball

This is great. Kudos to IL for putting these videos together. A few random thoughts-

Looks like Army gets out to a hot start. I think I read somewhere that they were up 5-1 to start. Not great.

Gives me no joy, but it does seem like Cam Ryan gets scored on, on more than one occasion.

Looks like O'Farrell is playing midfield, he gets stuck in transition a few times here and also has a nice split dodge but the shot gets saved.

At least one midfield line is O'Farrell, McIntee and Hottle. Kraftson also pops up but not sure if he is playing attack. Curious if the guys playing on the second line are higher on the depth chart than the first line players from the Princeton scrimmage (where the 'backups' were starting).

Jack Schell seen playing SSDM. Gives up a goal. He's on the field with Kittleberger. Bowen and Spallina are another pair. Ochoa does pop up.

Bolognino and McCarthy at the wings for at least one face-off. Nice groundball by McCarthy.

Man Up unit looks to be: Anderson, Rhoa, GEB, Thomson, Spallina and Deere. Have to imagine Leo will take Anderson's spot when he is healthy? Looks like Kellogg scores a man-up goal at some point, Rhoa is not on the field. Really hope Rhoa is on the man-up unit this year.

Nice takeaway by Jordan Beck. Beck tells Powellfan, "I'll show you, dummy".

Hottle scores a pretty goal dodging from X.

Ippoliti looks lively in net. McCool looks good as well. Ippoliti does have a way of looking very energetic in cage. Does a great job of controlling at least one rebound.

Jake Spallina scores a nice goal in transition. Deere has a real nice assist to Spallina from the top of the box. Looks like he's playing midfield with Hottle and Rhoa. Curious if that holds for the season.

had a pll coaching buddy who was there scouting some future talent (he cant do much in person scouting in the spring due to other commitments). he said cuse was very impressive in both scrimmages. however he did note that they were basically tied and evenly matched with army with starters in...army took their starters out in the 3rd quarter while cuse left theirs in and then went on a run to "win" with their starters vs. army's backups...

Not sure what Army was missing as far as starters in the first half but Leo and Figueiras are very big pieces missing for Cuse. Hopefully both will be ready in February.

Army will always play SU tough. Their discipline has always worked to counter our flair. In all my years watching cuse, we have been tested by them tremendously.

Props to Kevin Brown at IL. Very thorough writeup. One thing we had not mentioned is that McCarthy found the back of the cage a couple times. Good to see given his shooting slump last season. Also has a very nice gb play off the wing in that youtube highlight and looked to be on defense at least once or twice. He is the English in training and will be a key piece this year even if he plays less on offense.

McIntee getting a lot of praise for his middie dodging ability. Just what the doctor ordered! Also said he scored off a gb on the wing. Given that we basically only played Rice English and McCarthy on the short stick wing last year, he must have some dependable jets, and would maybe be trusted in a two way role.

Some nice defensive highlights by Stephens, Bolognino, Ryan and Ippoliti. I know it’s silly to read too much into fall ball highlights, but I like what I’ve seen from Ippoliti … makes you wonder.

Hahn’s two goals vs Princeton this past weekend.

Really wish he was able to sport #3 this year like he did in high school, looks aesthetically pleasing because he’s a really smooth middie.

Ippoliti, from what I saw in Placid, seems to be the ultimate team first guy. Always cheering on guys, encouraging them, and being an awesome teammate when not in cage.
