Do we know who has been invited yet? I’ve seen press releases from other schools saying “X players receive invites to combine,” but can’t find anything for guys from Cuse.

How did that compare to other programs? Five seems high for us.

Did a quick (and non-exhaustive) search of the interweb/ series of tubes.

In the last 20 years, this is the most invitees we've had.

In that time frame, we've had three years with four invitees, and two years with three invitees.

I know we had some stacked rosters in the 80's and 90's, but given that the NFL expanded the number of combine participants in the early 2000s, it's not a stretch to think this might be our highest number of participants ever.

The combine has been around since the mid 80's. Anyone know when/ if we've had more than five combine participants?

Writing a piece for later today...biggest "snubs" for Syracuse players? Curious about everyone's thoughts...I'd have to go with Meeks, Barron, Wax and/or Washington...

Barron first to come to mind.

Meeks hopefully did enough to help himself at Shrine Bowl workouts and game.
And the entire season prior - well, starting with the 4th game.

Meeks was like 2nd/3rd string for first 3 games, and totalled 9 catches, 115y, 1 TD.
2/43, 4/32, 3/40 & 1.

The other 10 games 69 catches (NIIIICE) and over 900 yarfs w 6 TD's!!
6 games over 100y receiving, including last 3 straight.
Including 2 TD's vs The Ewe in that huge "upset" W.

2 years ago I thought Wax was a shoo-in future Pro.
Now I think he's UDFA at best.

Barron for sure. Position change kept him from the notariety he deserved.

Meeks second. IMO receiver and OL/DL are the easiest positions to stand out in tryouts because you have the opportunity to clearly win 1v1 matchups vs pros without having to master schemes/plays/formations or have instincts that are a bigger part of standing out at other positions. He will get an opportunity to impress.

Wax great college player, maybe a practice player, and stick around to make a team eventually.

I give Washington less than 5% to make it. He struggled with college speed rushers. Will have even more trouble with pros.

I think if we where a bigger "name" or haven't ruined most of the 2000s we would have seen Baron and Meeks
I might wrong but something just feels like our on the line guys got moved to not invited group
This thought crossed my might because usually the NFL scouts want to see more of the factors as even some of their 2nd string get drafted fairly early (3rd to 5th)

I feel bad for Wax. He has been a stud for us throughout his collegiate career and made numerous impact plays starting 4 seasons for us and was a greatly leader on top of it. I really do think he would be talked of in a much higher regard if he was able to play out his senior season injury free.

Really hope he gets a shot in the NFL in a good situation and exceeds all expectations.

Barron gets invited to the Senior Bowl but not The Combine? We're living in the Bizarro World.

Are we?

He was invited to the Senior bowl so NFL coaches could see him practice and play against top collegiate talent in person. He got work at all three of the traditional linebacker positions; Mike, Sam and Will.

Unfortunately, one of my most vivid memories of him in the game was when he missed a tackle against the opposing QB on the goal line. No bueno.

And do you remember the picture of him with his shirt off after one of the practices? I love the young man, but that is not an NFL body.

He will have another chance to impress scouts at Pro Day on campus.

I wish him the best.

Yeah, I have not understood a lot of takes here about JB

Yeah, I have not understood a lot of takes here about JB

This is a fan forum. Takes here are generally emotionally driven. Fans are attracted to his commitment to the program, his character and his leadership.

JB is a high character young man. He's a great teammate, often helping younger players on and off the field. He's leader because players see how hard he works. My comment in a previous post regarding his body in no way was meant to imply he doesn't work hard in the weightroom. He works hard everywhere. Some guys struggle to gain good weight and keep it on (high metabolism?). Personally, I don't have that problem, but my weight isn't "good weight" either. JB is training in Florida. It will be interesting to see how much he weighs and if he passes the "eye test" on Pro Day.

JB is a good story. Came to Cuse as a WR. Moved to safety and then to LB when the team needed him to move. He is a team first guy.

Meeks for sure! Maybe Wax. Being injured for 1/2 the season, likely didn't help him.
The timing for poor Wax was horrible to suffer the injury he did. if Jahad Carter got the NIL he did a few years ago, Marlowe could have bailed and made some big $ but stayed the course, worked hard to come back and was a great leader here. Only wishing the best for him and his future.

I get the feeling we will have a large number of teams coming in for the Syracuse pro day with our group of players. Wax. Meeks and others will be able to additionally show their skills. Wax, Barron and Meeks were at post season bowls as well.

What is the second logo in the 11-player box? I can't decipher it
