I think it's just one of those things that somehow I manage to see the highlight when he misses one and it clouds my perception?? He's about as money as it gets.
They also rely on him way more than a normal team. "Let's run a draw to set up a 56yd FG in the worst kicking stadium" and usually it works out for them because Tomlin voodoo.I think it's just one of those things that somehow I manage to see the highlight when he misses one and it clouds my perception
I guess I can see both of it. He doesn't have a big leg so you don't want to take a loss; Lamar isn't as elusive as he used to be..One thing I don't understand about last night is why the Ravens didn't try to get closer for an easier field goal. They had time and timeouts to work with. A 44 yarder in frigid weather isn't close to a guarantee as we saw. Maybe they had PTSD from Henry fumbles earlier in the year and didn't want to risk it.
Balt threw the long pass and called their 2nd timeout with 14 seconds left. With only one timeout left they figured they should put the ball where their kicker wants it and not risk a sack or turnover. One thing I don't understand about last night is why the Ravens didn't try to get closer for an easier field goal. Even Angel Hernandez thought that call was whackNFL officials need to have a talking-to...ridiculous
Atlanta was a NY Jets final drive FG away from the playoffs. If you can't get a stop vs that sad sack team in crunch time you don't deserve a division title.Dirty Birds close out the season getting eliminated from the playoffs and then going on a 4-game win streak. First firings… head coach and GM gone in ATL.
Edit: technically not first since Titans and Giants already fired their HCs in-season.. plus Dolphins already fired GM.
my downfall was forgetting MNF needs a #4 vs #5 game and got CHI and PITT on the wrong primetime night. Got the other four correct.Look at that, nailed the schedule exactly. Too easy.
That seemed very P&D settling for that FG try. I acknowlege a 44 yd try usually money with an NFL kicker but with :14 left at the Pitt 24 yd line and that last timeout available I'd want to run one more play to get the rookie kicker a little closer. I'd trust Lamar to not take a sack or throw a bonehead pick there.Wow he missed!
Man… I feel for him though.
I agree. If you don't want to rick a Henry fumble call a quick pass or Lamar designed run.One thing I don't understand about last night is why the Ravens didn't try to get closer for an easier field goal. Raiders had to do it. You keep the old man around and Mendoza's team might pull the Elway / Manning power play and refuse to play in Vegas.Carroll out. Stefanski out.
I like Harbaugh but hes had some bizarre loses. Blowing a 15 point lead in buffalo, last night. You have been coaching in heinz field 20 years now and know how tough it is to kick there. Get 5 more yards there. On their own side of the field the Steelers try a QB sneak on 4th and 2. With 80 year old Aaron Rodgers on the sneak. like that gets coaches fired
Also the lowest takeaways for a season at four. Previous low was seven. Can we take a moment to honor the NY Football Jets for cementing two spots in future trivia lore?
First team to go an entire season without an interception.
First team (in the 16+ game era) without a 400 yard receiver.
Or even Henry off tackle. He gains three yards then you're looking at a 39 yarder instead of a 44 yarder since they lost two yards on the actual play when Lamar spiked it. I know it's hindsight but they should have tried to get closer. They had the TOs to do it. I'd rather trust Henry or Lamar than a rookie kicker. That seemed very P&D settling for that FG try. It’s incredibleGarret Wilson led the team in receiving yards.
Garret Wilson hasn't played since...early October???
