Tiger, unfortunately, wasn't only groomed by his father to be a great golfer, he was 'groomed' to follow in his father's more tawdry footsteps.

If VICE-TV ever did a series on "The Dark Side Of Golf", Earl Woods would be featured in Season 1.

He's obviously not even close to Tiger's accomplishments. But he has gotten to the point when it's surprising when he doesn't win, at least for me. That's hard to get to that point in golf.

He is the best right now of one bad shot not turning into 3-4 .

I have been trying to get that thru my kids head for awhile now.

I know it's a signature event and Jack's course, but the Memorial's become a very meh tournament IMO. Not having Rory definitely hurt this year.

The volatility of Jordan Spieth's game is really something. Dude's the exact opposite of Scottie.

I get skipping Harbour Town the week after finally winning the Masters and Grand Slam but skipping the Memorial and not telling Jack personally when Rory sees him all the time at the Bears Club is poor form.

Just speculation on my part, but I wonded if his martial issues -- i.e. more time with the family is playing a roll in with this. If so, I have no problem with that. If not, then I have a problem with blowing of Jack without a call.

I suspect one of the reasons that Rory skipped the Memorial is that for whatever reason he feels a commitment to the Canadian Open which has treated him very well for a number of years. He is the one big name that continually shows up.

Most golfers do not want to play 4 events in 4 weeks, and will schedule accordingly. I don't blame any top ranked golfer for not playing in Canada -- you are certainly not passing on the US Open or the two designated events (Memorial and Hartford) to fit Canada in your schedule. Thank Jay Monahan for shafting us in this terrible spot.

But since Rory really seems to like playing in Canada, he appears that he ended up choosing it over a designated event to avoid the 4 tourneys in 4 week scenario. A little surprised he didn't choose to pass on Hartford instead of Memorial, but perhaps there was a personal issue at play.

Talking about Rory looks like he will miss the cut this week.

I was at the TPC Toronto / Osprey Valley on Wednesday - some mixed feelings on the course selected and the day itself Don't think its up to par with other recent courses, and its an odd choice as its still a good 45 minutes north of the GTA, and about 75-90 minutes from the city core.

Currently 96th in the FedEx Cup standings, and top 100 get full status for next year... I count six more tournaments he can enter. Gotta finish strong.
