In contention all week. Couldn’t catch a break on the front. Hits an all-timer drive on 17. Hits a nervy birdie putt. Stripes another one on 18. Good approach. Drains a 40-footer to win by two and be the only one under par at Oakmont on Father’s Day.

I LOVE it when a career middle-of-the-pack guy puts it together on one special weekend because they can never take it away from him.

If I'm him, I put those three insane long birdie putts on the back 9 on an endless loop, and retire.

1. Hit bad shots
2. The golf course is hard
3. Bad weather

Number 2 and 3 certainly came into play on Sunday, but those guys hit an amazingly high number of plain old bad shots. Hovland's giant slice drive on #1 may be the best example, but there was a lot of competition.
Glad JJ won. That last putt was an incredible way to win.

I was thinking same. Tough course and bad conditions masked bad execution which I think comes from the tour bring filled with easy courses. Lots of guys can't grind.

My wife is a big Tommy Fleetwood fan and has suffered with him thru the years. He is such a great golfer and has accomplished so much. I was rooting for Keegan because it's going to make the Ryder Cup very interesting, but it would have been great it Tommy got this huge Rory sized monkey off his back. See how many more top fives and top tens he will get before he wins.

Can't wait for Sunday of the Ryder Cup when Captain America leads off vs Tommy Fleetwood.

I was going to bet Keegan on Sunday morning but he was only +175

I was watching live with 6 holes left and Bradley or Henley were live at around +600 down 2, I took Henley who then cut it to one and Bradley bogied.. Then Henley 3 putts and Bradley makes a 50+ ft putt and flips the switch as Tommy couldnt finish it off

BUT, here is my Stone Cold Lock of the Year. Tommy Fleetwood to win the Open Championship at +2200. Of course Rory is going to be the overwhelming favorite but I like Tommy here. Just like when I had Brian Harmon at +8500 a couple years ago.

The US Open is starting to get a lot of winners whose only major win is the US Open.

Remember way back to the 2002 US Open at Bethpage, when Jon Daly was the only guy able to hit the 610 yd green in two (driver, 3 wood). At Oakmont, pretty much every Tom, Dick, and Harry was hitting the 620 yd hole in two, and Bryson came up 5 yds short with 3 wood and 7 iron!

They should put a, high swing speed, governor on the ball.

I am not sure that length of 620 does much to these guys with this equipment. Even back 40 yrs ago we had 575 yd par 5s and I could reach it with driver 5 iron. Cant imagine with the new drivers what these kids can do now. these new drivers easily make the courses 40 yds shorter than the 80s and doing that they can cut corners now they never could have which makes many play even shorter than that,

They dont even really need to make the clubs or balls go shorter, just make the sweet spots much smaller.

nope. but I was on the sim at enjoie in college at the BC open and they said i had the longest drive on the machine that year with a carry over 300 yds and a club head speed in the 120s. I was also crazy wild so like the pros now I shortened many holes because I came from odd angles and just hit over trees as needed.
