This guy was pretty good and clearly did his homework, versus guys who just mail it in.Damn. Tough to watch Opie with a chin strap beard.
His content wasn’t bad. I just find the whole chinstrap beard off putting. This guy was pretty good and clearly did his homework, versus guys who just mail it in.
ESPN's David Hale has us in Tier 8 after 34 other teams.

136 teams, 20 tiers: Ranking all FBS programs ahead of the 2025 season
From Tier 1 to Tier 20, David Hale ranks all 136 college football program into tiers ahead of the 2025 season.www.espn.com
I don't know. I first read it late last night while it came out yesterday at 7am. Wouldn't be a surprise if he got some facts wrong. But given how much his description attributes our good record to a run of luck I was surprised he has us as high as he does given our schedule.Did he revise the article after saying BYU and Cuse were outscored in FBS games last year?
on the flip side, they could have beaten texas too. i think people are focusing more on the end vs. all the near misses inbetween since all the talent is coming back. but i otherwise agree with you.I thought David Hale had a great point primarily regarding Clemson. Everyone has picked them to in the league with little hesitation. Why? Like he said it took a last second FG for them to escape with the championship, they were handled by Louisville, finished with 4 losses, and for all intents and purposes yes they return the same core but its the same core that had some rough spots last year. Sometimes new faces and turnover can be a better catapult for a program.
Interesting, I always thought there was a fine line between being clever and stupid.on the flip side, they could have beaten texas too. i think people are focusing more on the end vs. all the near misses inbetween since all the talent is coming back. but i otherwise agree with you.
my issue is there's always a fine line between winning and losing, but it's used against us in his ranking but ignored for clemson.
I think the Clemson QB is overrated. I will be surprised if they go unbeaten in the league.I thought David Hale had a great point primarily regarding Clemson. He looked pretty solid as the year went on, the USC game was by far his worst of the second half of the season. The intriguing story line for me will be how good their running game is.I think the Clemson QB is overrated. I will be surprised if they go unbeaten in the league.
Wow! I did not realize ND has won 29 consecutive ACC games. That is quite impressive really. Amazingly unbelievable actually. This isn’t the same Notre Dame program. When we played them then, they were at their low point of the past 20 years.
Notre Dame has won 29 consecutive games against ACC opponents. And the game is being played near the end of the season, when their advantage in depth is most meaningful.
Anything is possible but of all the games we have on the schedule, IMHO, this one is the most unlikely to result in a win.
My wife and I will be in Atlanta and at Notre Dame. Please, oh, please, don't let us go 0 and 2. Road trip losses are a like having your bike stolen. It's a long, sad walk home.I'm predicting 8-4.
Beat Tenny, Colgate, Uconn, lose to Clemson, Beat Duke, Lose to SMU, Beat Pitt, Lose to Georgia Tech, Beat UNC, Beat Miami, lose a close game to ND, beat BC
Think the Duke/GT/UNC games can all flip in either direction. Same with Miami. Need to beat BC and Pitt and go 2-2 against Tenn/Clemson/ND/Miami assuming we have a letdown in one of the other games. If we don't screw up one of those, we can afford to go 1-3 in those games and still get to 8 wins.
Emotionally want the game against TN, but mind says we're going to be better positioned to beat Miami and potentially ND as team peaks later in the year.
I would love this. But that seems like your wearing orange colored glasses figuring out a way where 8 wins has some shot of happening, not exactly what is likely to happen.I'm predicting 8-4.

It is not so much doubt, as realism. When you play a bunch of playoff teams (Tenn, SMU, Clemson, ND), a bunch of other 9+ win teams (Duke, UConn, Miami), Georgia Tech (everyone's ACC sleeper), get Pitt/BC (who swept us last year, and UNC (with Belichick)... it is not being mean to struggle to see 6 wins on a team that was very good in closing games last year, but lost a lot of talent to NFL Rosters, injury, and transfer.Neither Schlabach nor Bonagura have us making a bowl game this season. Time to silence the doubters.

Bowl projections: Every matchup from the Celebration Bowl to the national title game
It's August and no games have been played, but we're breaking down who will be where in December and beyond.www.espn.com
There is nothing real about the upcoming season yet. So, someone believing that we can win 10+ games is no less real than believing our ceiling is 6 games. One is just more optimistic than the other. It is not so much doubt, as realism. Would you say Fran is wearing Orange colored glasses? I think most of us understand that there are some challenges in having a good season this year. That doesn't mean you don't try and take an optimistic view of how the season Could go. For example I could see Syracuse beating Tennessee. I don't view that game as a prayer given how both teams are set up right now. Punch them in the mouth with some physical play, get a couple turnovers and if I am Nixon I would play aggressive early and show faith in your QB. I think our skill player talent at RB and WR is top notch. Beat Tennessee and now there is a great chance of starting 3/0.I would love this. But that seems like your wearing orange colored glasses figuring out a way where 8 wins has some shot of happening, not exactly what is likely to happen.
With the combination of our killer schedule in comparison to last season and not having McCord, I don’t see how we only drop one W from last years regular season record. Plus we have suspect depth at a couple of positions. I’m going with SU over under at 6.5 wins.
