2025 Spring Schedule/Game

Logistics?

I'm hearing the spring "game" on April 12th will be held outdoors at the soccer field. Has anyone else heard this? Could be interesting considering the capacity for the soccer stadium appears to be 1,500. Will they bring in additional stands?

I'm also hearing hey want to bring in several food trucks and possibly some live entertainment.

Lastly, I heard there are two practices the week following the spring game and one of those will be on the road in Rochester.

On another note, I heard we may have as many as three football players who will also be running track this spring. My guess is Malachi James, Darrell Gill and?

I think the true freshman Malachi Coleman ran track.

We’ve had the spring game there before so that’s nothing new. They tied it in with a fanfest. My sons got to me Floyd, and various other football alums. It was a lot of fun.

That could be fun and would explain the delay in announcing it.

Of course, April in Syracuse could be wonderful or awful but I like the idea to make it a more fun atmosphere.

That was just a scrimmage and a Season Ticket Holder BBQ in August.

Maybe the only thing Coyle got right.

I still have vivid memories of that bitterly cold outdoor April practice that HCDM held in Rochester. It was so cold that it was hard to concentrate on football.

Makes sense with the major concert in the Dome the night before but capacity will absolutely be an issue. As will the lack of a video board and amenities. Not to mention the possibility of weather. Seems like if the spring game doesn’t signal the end of spring practice they could push it out a week?

I’m not sure how smart it would be playing at the soccer field. Last year SU begged for fans to show up and they did. Where would people sit at the soccer stadium? In April, they could totally rip up the field with bad weather. Why schedule the game on the 12th if they can’t convert the stadium after the concert from the night before? Looks like a lot of poor planning. I always make the long drive for the Spring Game, but I’m not going to go and freeze my butt off with no where to sit.

The Metallica concert is scheduled at JMA for Saturday, April 19th.

I think this shines a light on a problem with SU sports facilities. We need a better outdoor facility for soccer with a bigger capacity and more amenities. Add stands on the east side of the field. Ideally also add them behind both goals. Add bathrooms. Add at least one decent concession stand. Get a real scoreboard.

it is hard to get a seat for soccer. This has been a problem for years. And when there are issues with dome availability, football and lacrosse need a place to play.

Our facility for soccer is unacceptable. It is not remotely at an ACC level and this needs to get addressed asap. Our players, coaches and fans deserve better.

The Fanfest Spring game they held in 2019 was the best.
Had some stuff for the family outside.
Dungey and the Camping World Bowl trophy.
Floyd, Csonka, and Coughlin where signing autographs.
My oldest daugther got to go on the field and cheer with the SU cheerleaders.
Sure the game was a glorified scrimmage but over all it was a fun family event, which builds up the younger fans that we really need to start to connect with since we lost basically a generation of fans since we stunk up the place so far in the 2000s.

They used to play practice games at Coyne.
I even watched some games there with Coach Mac.

I wonder if they'll add some temporary stands at the soccer stadium or if they change the game date.

They should have built a stadium in the inner harbor.

Metallica should play the spring game. Let’s get creative! :)
I'm not sure they have the DBs to cover our receivers. I suspect their "Roadies" may have sufficient personnel for the lines, but do they have a QB or RB of renown? Who are their LBs? I mean, if this is not a P4 school should we play them at all? Think of our SOS and potential for a playoff opportunity.
