2025 U20 World Championship: Korea

haha. this from a defenseman?!?!? your linemates would say for shame.
the sticks + no shot (or clear) clock is the bad mix.

international has lagged here because of their perceived difficulties to implement (getting clocks) to still developing nations and competitiveness. they could do a bi-furcated system for the games with clocks for the top bracket or simply institute it and deal. they move like a sloth (talked about clocks well before and could've done this summer), but the guess is they floated it to have it in going forward.

Lol, yes from this former defenseman!

I only like the shot clock as a countermeasure to over-coaching, and stall tactics exacerbated by narrow sidewalls and fishing net pockets.

It’s just more Box-ification of the field game that I dislike.

Can’t call it the fastest game on two feet in its current iteration - shot clock included.

(And stay off my lawn!)

6-5?!?!?!?!?

In a showdown of the two most talented countries!

Boring AF.

Those responsible for lacrosse have ruined the free flowing field game by allowing box influence on stick heads and de facto legal cross checking.

Get rid of pinched/offfset heads and enforce hands together when pushing ball carriers on defense.

More change in possession = more up and down scoring chances. And hopefully less over-coaching (specialization).

I don't know what most of this means, but if it gets rid of 6-5 games, I'm all for it.

I'm still having 2011 nightmares.

i think we all romanticize somewhat what it was back in the day. jmo. i like the new game, doesn't detract from what i fell for as a game back then. it had its warts, too, we were just willing to overlook them for all the positives.

the shot clock (to my surprise) has no doubt fixed a lot of stuff on the tech front.
my wishes would be to be more liberal in allowing holding (to slow down/stop, not redirect or move) and the same for some bodychecks. neither will ever happen.

also, of course bring back the release of penalty if you clear it into the box! hoo the he** was responsible for getting rid of that!

Don't entirely disagree, but the worst era of "pinched heads" is well behind us. Roughly 2006-2012 the pockets were just as deep but the head pinch was totally insane. You literally could not get the ball out of guys sticks if they strung it the right way and it could still pass a stick check from a ref. Now the regulations with the head width are way more strict. They look extremely wide by comparison.

A lot of box influenced guys play with a widened head. Hiltz is a great example. Catch and quick release are valued over the hold you get from a pinched head.

I agree that era was much worse for head and pocket violators.

I acknowledge the crustiness in my belief they didn’t widen heads far enough with current regulations.

They’re still too narrow for my taste.

I agree with wgdsr that they should bring back penalty release for technicals and non-full time personal fouls when cleared to the box.

And while I believe the guidelines around head contact and defenseless players are good, I’d like to see one slight change.

You shouldn’t be considered defenseless on a GB. Poorly thrown buddy pass on a clear? Absolutely defenseless.

No need to have old school Ronnie Lott like kill shots in the sport.

But if the balls on the ground keep your head on a swivel as you run through it!

Anything not from behind, or making direct contact to the helmet, with hands close together should be legal.

Thanks for indulging my thread derailment!
