2025 Yankees Season

Volpe's 1-37 streak is soooooooooooooooooo close to being the worst in Yankees history over an 11 game stretch.

A 1-38 streak holds down the record though in spite of Volpe's best efforts. Although most of those people collected walks and RBIs during their streaks of suck.
Volpe has neither.

1-37 for a professional hitter and starting SS for the most valuable franchise in baseball.

That’s baseball…..?

Like SU hoops legend Derrick Coleman used to say "whoopdee dam do". We know the Yankees can bludgeon the crap teams on the schedule. Win the two series Sept. 2 - Sept. 7 when they play Houston and Toronto and I'll start to believe.

I agree, and would cue the Chris Rock "you're supposed to!".

But with a 7 game easy stretch (3-0 so far), followed up by a 12 game nightmare stretch, followed up by a 13 game easy stretch, you HAVE to beat those bad teams.

As Yankee fans there's only one goal to each season, but just get to the playoffs and hope things heat up.

You guys pile on all you want, but if not for his 2 outs in the 3rd inning yesterday, that inning might still be going on. I had other things to do, needed that game to end.

So thank you Anthony Volpe.

Cashman's ego really isn't doing Volpe any favors right now.

When I was following the game last night, I believe he came to bat late in the game with either the bases loaded, or maybe two on, in a lopsided game, and thought, “This will be when he hits a home run. Meaningless production. Such a Volpe thing to do.” Glad I was wrong…I think…

Gil Hodges ended the 1952 season with four hitless games, then went 0-21 in a seven game World Series, and the borough of Brooklyn responded by praying for him. That was a different time.

That is sadly because you don't know what a lot of people actually thought about him--and his hitting struggles, or would say if they could have done so anonymously. Agreed, it was a different time, but not because it was a kinder, gentler world. Can you imagine a message board for the Dodgers, and what that would have been like for Mr. Hodges? Or, for a certain teammate? A truly interesting discussion would be: Which situation is better?

Okay, that's enough. By the way, this is not a personal attack br801 as much as I was making a sociologic observation.

I took no offense. Those are great questions worth pondering. I'll just say many people would like to turn back the clock these days, and a lot of them want to do it for the wrong reasons.

Spot on.
