I really admire the quickness and efficiency of the way the bullpen blew the game. They didn't sit around and wait to blow it. Max left the field and they got to work IMMEDIATELY!!!! That is dedication to their craft.

It didn’t seem like an analytics-driven decision to me. Boone has pushed pitch counts with guys like Cole in the past. The lineup was not going to flip over yet, so it wasn’t fear of the fourth time through the order effect. I didn’t hear or read Boone’s comments, but I assume it was a decision made before the inning started. The staff probably believed Fried was toast and just let him go out and get the one lefty in the lineup before coming out. In the absence of better evidence, I would have kept Fried in until he allowed a baserunner, but I don’t think it was a particularly egregious decision to take him out.

You know those Stevenson posts from the football board pregame about lifting weights and doing coke? We'll see the real life version of that tonight with Rodon. If you remember last year's playoff start vs KC once again he'll come out all gakked up on something trying to throw 110 each pitch that he'll gas out after maybe 5 innings and 100 pitches.

I am not saying Boone is a great Manager, I've always felt that he is just a "yes man". He does what the analytics folks tell him.

What decision did he make that had the high priced team only score a single run? The offense lost the game, not Boone. Year after the year, the team is poorly constructed.
