Harder usually means money in this case. So buyout is higher and the requirements we may have to help find a game could be more difficult (if they exist). Toledo can probably go on the road whereas getting someone to go to UConn will be harder.

One team has to because of math.

But the main issue is the conference leadership is incompetent. There was no reason to rush to 9 conference games in 2026 when schools needed time to adjust from already committed to schedules. The 9 games should have started in 2027.

At the same time the conference should have added an 18th school for 2028. That fixes the math problem and every school can play 9 games.

The best option IMO would be USF. Yes, FSU would not like that but who cares about FSU at this point? Also they are only 1 of 17 votes. The other option would be Tulane which might be easier to pass.

With the ACC and SEC schools now at 9 conference games, the demand for G6 OOC games went down. Which should in theory make it easier to have a bought home G6 game. The P4 are all going to 9 conference + 1 P4 OOC + 1 FCS (as long as they are allowed which I wish they were not) + 1 G6. There are 68 P4 teams, which leaves 68 G6 teams. So we should be able to find a G6 who will take a reasonable pay day road game. At worst there will be one team leftover for us.

Yes, the B1G and SEC schools can offer better deals as they have more money. So they will get better options than SU. Same for the upper ACC and B12 schools who have larger stadiums to offset the payments. But even if we are in the bottom 20 P4 schools, we should be able to find someone to play without a return trip.

And if we do agree to a road game, we should be able to dictate a 2 for 1 or even a 3 for 1. At this point a 1 for 1 is Mickey Mouse.

Not to mention there are some G6 schools who will be willing to play 2 paid road P4 games. Which increases the supply of OOC G6 options which already favor us.

So really we should have 7 home games a year. At worst 7 home games two out of three years. Going forward it is unacceptable to have only 6 home games any more often than that.

I really don’t understand having some teams play 9 games and others play 8. This conference is so wonky.

It's a transition phase. IIRC, eventually 16 will play the 9-game schedule and 1 will play 8. The 8-game team will rotate each year.
