2026 Bracketology

not sure how Cornell is 800 and harvard is 4000. Even this week if Cornell loses to Harvard they become the 4 seed and have to play Princeton and might not even get in

Seems pretty reasonable especially going on if the season ended today. I suspect Cuse is looking at Army assuming they win the Patriot no matter how or where we finish unless Syracuse somehow won out and grabbed a top 2 seed. I could see PSU as the other team if Army doesn't win the Patriot and SU stays in that 4/5 seed range. Either game would be a brutal 1st round matchup.

And, as usual, it will be the last game Sunday night.
 
Unless cuse wins out or wins till acc chip more then likely getting a tough team first round or team we rather not. This team is gonna have to really turn it on n step up and not play down to any team n play their best. Gosh hate to see army specially in first round. But don’t see or know who would knock them out of patriot league. Yes Bu beat them but arnt isn’t a team that normally lets same team beat them twice.

Depends what time the WLAX game is at the Soccer Stadium.

Last year we played at Yale, so it didn't matter.

If we're hosting at 3 PM, they'll hold off the Men until 7:30 pm.

Ideally they give the Women an 11 AM or Noon start.

I agree personally I hate having to wait around until Sunday night for the game. Would love to have the first game either day.
 
I pretty much agree with Hart concerning Maryland and the Big Ten. Maryland definitely needs to beat Rutgers at 6pm on Saturday in Byrd or they are out. After that Maryland needs to beat PSU in the semifinals in Pisscataway. This would put Maryland ahead of PSU.

PSU getting a win over Maryland puts them in.

Rutgers needs to win the Big Ten tmt. If they can upset Maryland, they would get the homefield for the semifinals/final.

Looking at the other bracket:
If OSU gets by Michigan, they get Hopkins, who they beat earlier in the season in the semifinals. If OSU wins against Hopkins, they are looking pretty good.

Michigan needs to win the Big Ten tmt for the AQ, something they did a couple years ago. Michigan has been playing better the last few weeks - only losing to OSU by 1 this past weekend and beating PSU and Rutgers the previous 2 weekends.

 
honestly either way bracket falls wasn’t gonna be easy road or easy path. As stated many times unless top 1-3 seeds your first round game will be tough. Only way cuse can even reach top 3 i guess would have to win out. Even if they somehow beat ND this week n lose to unc, Nd in semis of acc still don’t think they reach top 3 seeds. Prob have to win out or as said beat Nd this week n win semis of acc. Think if they can beat ND this week n reach acc chip they possibly could reach 3rd seed. But prob also depend on what those other teams did also.

Gosh i hope someone takes out army.

i realize army has been a bad matchup for cuse lately but the orange match up well with this years army team. its a game where mullen should control faceoffs and while their d is good they dont have a total shutdown defender like aj piliate anymore, so joey should get his points and not be a ghost...plus their secondary defenders may not be able to handle leo, thomson, bear, and the rest...i would rather play army than penn state or god forbid a john tillman team...

yale would be an intriguing matchup too. suddenly they look legit
 
Army scares me cause not only talent but well coached n their physical. But what really always scares me of them is the discipline they have. As we do not always have that. Mean they are in the army so makes sense. But yea there few teams i def would not like but there isn’t a good path either way. As said this team will have to be on point n level up asap if they wanna make a run.

I do think Syracuse matches up better this year then they have with Army since probably their last win which was I think 2020. I think the hesitation from some fans is that Army has historically given SU trouble even when SU was clearly the more talented team. Now in most of those games SU came out on top but they ended being either very close or OT wins.

I do think Army would be a better matchup then say Penn State who you have no idea what team your gonna get.

Playing a Tillman lead team is never something you wanna sign up for but I do gotta say this current Maryland team looks broken offensively. I keep waiting for them to turn it on and they technically still can but they have lost multiple games this year they haven't lost under Tillman in a long time. Even last week vs Hop, to only score 8 goals in a close to a must win game is an enormous red flag. With their O issue and Schaller out for the year I'd like Cuse chances (I am sure this will come back to haunt me).
 
I wouldn’t like a matchup with Army very much, mostly because they seem to become super soldiers when they enter the Dome. That said, it’s hard to believe this iteration of the Black Knights can make it through the Patriot League tournament unscathed.

I guess the good news is none of these bracktologies turn out to be accurate, even when the people doing them have the final numbers in front of them. The committee picks and chooses what criteria is most important to them in a given year, and to everyone else it remains a mystery. I don’t think anyone has predicted an accurate bracket, at least in the last few years.

Also, especially this year you have to imagine there will be some wacky conference tournament upsets. There almost always is one every year, and this year seems to be especially wacky. Best thing Syracuse can do is take care of the business in front of them. They have really good opportunities these next two weeks.
 
Re playing Army: If I recall correctly, when we play them in the regular season it's usually (if not always) early in the season, like in February. Some on here have commented in the past that Army seems to do better early in the season but then often fades later, thus hurting their RPI and the RPI of anyone that plays them (like us in the past). If this is the matchup in Round 1 -- it's late, very late, in the season. So maybe their pattern repeats. But we wouldn't want to count on that.

If this team can't handle even the possibility of playing Army at home then we may as well just call it wrap. Total nonsense to want this team to win a title while at the same time worrying about Army. You're going to have to beat way better than than them to win a championship.
