2026 NCAA Selection Show Discussion / Rants

Having put together the puzzle for brackets for many years, the puzzle is not easy for 11 seeds, and Tuesday/Thursday games. I'll give them a semi-pass on this one,
You are too kind, the selection committee gets zero passes, remember the NCAA is the most corrupt 501 C 3 non-profit in the entire country.

Zero reason to not move the TX/NC St winner to a Friday game.

I had never heard the theory that Seth laid out. Not saying its right or wrong, but interesting to note if this is the way it goes moving forward.

That results metrics get you in (which I knew was the case and makes sense), but predictive metrics (like NET, KP, one of Bart's) dictates some of the seeding.

It all depends what pods the 3 seeds are assigned to That dictates everything, as you fit 3 seeds into a pod location , which determines date. And 11 seeds have to matchup in the same pod as 3 seeds.

If all 3 seeds are playing on Thursday, or 3 of the 4 on Thursday (which I will need to check), it will cause complications. Furthermore, since conference mates cannot play each other in the round of 64, which could cause another problem, which sometimes forces the 11/11 to get moved even further than wanted.

The 11/11 games are some of the hardest to place logistically having done brackets for a while.

It has nothing to do with corruption.

Let's check where the 3 seeds are afterwards -- because it could be a screwup, or very much just circumstances.

Seth "UCF is #10, despite being a bubble team". Literally nobody had UCF on the bubble Seth.

People complained about John's 5 seed, Perhaps low, but that is a function of the mid Big East this year.

As for the bubble outlook.

Illinois a 3 seed playing UNC in Greenville..,I mean cmon.,

It happens now, and its within the rules of the bracketing procedures. About 5-6 years ago, they decided bracket placement was all location, location, location for as many teams as possible, and higher seeds were no longer protected in round of 64/32,

So when they are at the 6 seed or 10 seed line for example, they match up teams to the closest location... even if that means the 2 or 3 seed ends up playing someone who is close to their home in the round of 32/64.

In the past there was an effort made to protect the higher seed. Not anymore.

I'm still trying to figure out how they ended up in the same region. (unless I am missing something)
Perhaps they are in different regions and I just got confused at some point.
