I really like the Heritage. Not a bomber's course by any means.

I only wish they'd narrow the fairway at 18 to make it a truly iconic finishing hole.

rory plays like that anywhere but augusta and he doesnt come close to winning. He hit bad shots almost every hole down the stretch and got away with them all.

He sprays it all over the place like that at Shinnecock in June he's got no chance.

That was the only course he could have played that way and won. I get the history, the speed of the greens, the underseen elevation changes, etc., but that course allows you to survive sprayed drives all day.

I heard they watered the greens on the weekend to take out some of the sting. I wanted carnage! That's why the US Open is my favorite.

So. I watched the USGA hole-by-hole flyover at Shinnecock. Looks like a total brute.

My question is about the rough since I couldn't tell from the video--is it like typical US Open rough, or is it more like what we see at the British Open?

I saw someone on Twitter ask if 72-72 is good enough for Rory to win. I'm going to say no. But, only because there are a lot of great golfers 6, 7 and 8 strokes behind him that are very capable of going low.

My boy McIlroy. I didn't think even par would win it for him but it did.

Impressive resilience going from a 6 stroke lead to trailing by 3 to winning it; especially with his history of blowing leads. But the guy is a champion - won it with his B game.

Looks like Scheffler is back.

British open rough with crazy greens. USGA will be under the microscope. They jumped the shark and lost the plot (greens) when Brooks won.

My thoughts exactly. He’s still top dog, rounding into form, and super competitive and motivated. No better way to reassert yourself than completing the grand slam at an iconic venue.

Rory's the more exciting golfer. At his best, Scottie is almost boringly unbeatable.

Well, the short answer is that he got lived, but who really knows. I don’t think we’ve seen the last of him as a top competitor.

I think Scottie is different. He already has 4 majors and I think 20 wins on tour which is more than guys like O'meara and Harrington have. Brooks is probably the closest comp with that 5 major run he had but I think he has less than ten tour wins.

Well, he’s already at 4+ years, so I’d say he’s surpassed the 2-3 year hurdle.

On a golf pod i listen to they raised the point that any PGA Tour event winner gets a 2 year status exemption. This is a crazy field. It would be fun to see someone like Jason Duffner be part of the winning team. His OGR is over 1000.
