2026 Recruiting updates

Coach B is busy on the road yet again for DMV Live… (swipe to see the schedules over the next couple days)

A few of the recruits are 4 and 5 stars. I don’t think a new coach will not want Jordan Smith, Constanza, Rippey and Samuels if they are interested in Cuse.
Most commit to a coach not just a school. Four and five stars generally are thinking of the NBA not the degree.

Live period this weekend! Syracuse coaches are at the four main AAU circuits. Here are some targets the staff is watching: Syracuse basketball coaches on hand for 4-star, 5-star targets during AAU live period
Smith Jr, Rippey or Mingo? Smith is the tenacious defender, scorer, but lacks a consistent and reliable jump shot and is really a combo guard. Rippey appears to be the best overall as a floor general. Mingo has the size and a well balanced game. All that being said, we’d be blessed to have any one of the 3 and I have no preference.

They play different positions. With our three guards lineup, taking three guards in a class isn't a huge deal... See Fennell, Anthony and Womack. They are all different players, but still guards.

It's the same with the three you mentioned. Though the chances of getting all of them seem vanishing small.

Based on my convos with some folks, I'm not sure how much Syracuse is in play for Dylan Mingo. I know SU offered him not too long ago, but Syracuse's name hasn't come up - yet - when he talks about visits. Without question, Rippey (PG) and Smith (SG) are two of the top 2026 targets for 'Cuse. Vaughn Karvala is up there, too.

Any sense of where we stand with Constanza? At one point it seemed like our chances were very good.

Yep. They were. After his OV last fall, Syracuse was the front-runner. Things went quiet for a while. Candidly, not sure why. Syracuse is in Richmond, Va., during this weekend's live period to watch Constanza on the PRO16 circuit, so let's see how things shake out.

You always provide great updates. Your site is one of the first places I go every morning.

pretty good article that explains the current recruiting landscape

only 9 of espn top 100 have commited thus far for 2026, whereas this time last year 17 already had...and it explains why. a lot of schools dont even really know who they want and schools are now focusing more on portal and intl players.

I like that SU seems to at least be trying with a ton of top HS players...but it also seems that in this era it is easier to get those players than ever before ...

hopefully some of the many offers SU has made lately will start coming to fruition
