2026 Recruiting updates

We have had our share of foreign players over the years. Many very impactful. Is it harder to recruit these young kids now with all the technology and availability of information to all schools?

Hey all, so just as an FYI, these 2027 targets could potentially be re-class candidates into the 2026 cycle. I'm not suggesting any of them have made a move yet, and I also don't know how aggressively Syracuse is pursuing some of them these days. But something to monitor! Syracuse basketball 4-star, 5-star targets to monitor for possible re-class into 2026
so now that rippey is out for the cuse...how will that impact jordan smiths decision. were they going to play with each other?

Deron is a PG. Jordan is a SG. Not sure what you mean - are you asking if they wanted to play together in college? I don't believe so. Deron is from NYC. Jordan is from the DMV. Not sure if they're friends or not.

Neither one was ever coming here.

Agree with this. Until our program gets back on track [which could potentially happen this year], we just aren't going to be an attractive destination for recruits of caliber of Rippey / Smith. Especially with our coach's future uncertain -- I can only imagine how that was used by other teams negatively recruiting against us.

I think that with the uncertainty over the coaching staff, plus the current roster make-up, landing either Smith or Rippey would have been tough, but to say "Neither one was ever coming here," I'd respectfully disagree with that kind of blanket statement. But I do get your sentiment, I really do.

I don't know how you respectfully disagree here. Those factors are the reasons neither guy was coming here.

To act like we were right in the mix when we didn't even make Rippey's top 5...

I agree with your sentiment. I disagree with your blanket statement. And it's cool, we can disagree, my friend. All good!!!

"uncertainty over the coaching staff"?

wow - canary in the coal mine?

I don't follow this statement, sorry.
Is recruiting "uncertainty" an early indicator of recognized coaching troubles in the program?
Was an "easy" inside hire now manifesting itself to 2026+ recruiting weaknesses, which will then flow through the program, costing us 2-4 years of recruits (I guess that doesn't matter in the NIL era - see: Lane Kiffin in football possibly going to LSU or Florida)

Ahhh, I gotcha, my friend. What I meant in my earlier post is that Syracuse's 2026 recruiting efforts are in somewhat of a weird spot, because the team can return 9/10 players and the current staff needs to do well on the court to remain in place after this season, as far as I can tell. So that's the "uncertainly" I was speaking to!
