2026 Recruiting

I don't know how he'd be able to do both spring football practice and lacrosse regular season. That would be a crazy time commitment. Especially at a DI school. I haven't gotten the sense that any of the Football/Lacrosse players have ever done both at the same time. No lacrosse player is doing Fall Ball right now.

That's my main worry with Joe Filardi. High end lacrosse recruit has basically given up a whole year of development (left high school early for football spring ball, misses lacrosse fall ball), and he's not even third string for the football team. Jordan Faison obviously plays and plays well for the ND football team but took a step back on the lacrosse field last year. Still not sure how Matt Jeffery was named ACC Rookie of the Year, but I don't think he lived up to billing last year and he is spending another year playing football to get mop up duty.

I know being on a DI football team must be 1000 cooler than being on a lacrosse team, but I don't know, I feel like I'd want to dedicate my time to a sport that I could make a huge impact, instead of playing mop up duty. That's just me though (and I couldn't do either, for the record).
Our best bet with Filardi is him transitioning to lacrosse full time eventually. He is deep on the bench as a QB and if it stays that way he may look to take on lacrosse full time. He is a great athlete though and I feel a little better about adjusting back to defense instead of offense since there is a less emphasis on things like shooting and certain aspects of stick skills.

me, don't think missing fall ball is such a big thing, but only if you bring something that isn't available from your competition.

faison may have that, he's the top ranked recruit after all. and the playing up thing is pretty unique in the lax world, opposite day.

however... he still looks pretty slight? he'll fill out, but this wouldn't give him much time to. and 14 points last year? was he hurt for most of the year and missed a ton of games?

What's the general feeling on this class's offensive players? Summer 2024 highlights look like the most recent ones for Rayfield, Prater and Maloney. They look talented. Anyone project to attack? Hopefully not Prater, since we're good on lefties for awhile.

Hard to say. I could see them moving Rayfield to attack, he definitely has the skill set.

Wyatt Bowman also. Freshman TE on the football team. I saw he was credited with getting in on one play in the Colgate game. I have a friend whose son was a classmate of his at Georgetown Prep.
