2026 Spring Football Schedule/Spring Game

The kid definitely has had a lot of headwinds to deal with, between coaching and scheme changes, his own injury, key skill position player injuries etc. He is talented, and coming here with zero pressure on him is a positive for his development

Could really see Zamondre & Weaver on the outside with Boobie in slot.

Love that trio.
Really curious if Cole is going to get used similarly to OG. Think Z can play inside or out, having older players blocking off tackle is never a bad look. Boobie is gonna ball out along with D Will and T Russell from the slot. He's my way too early prediction for leading receiver this year.

Really sounds like Hatcher is working himself into a starter on the outside. Start him and Cole Outside, Z and Boobie inside. Rotate Z outside as situation dictates or give Wilfong some go routes to save legs of the starters. Use D Will and T Russ against LBs or safeties in space. Outten seems like a work in progress but he's got all the athleticism he needs and then some.

I've been thinking that Zamondre and Cole Weaver would end up being the starting outside receivers for a while. There is a lot behind the order the coaches rattle of player names. I'd guess Umari would likely be next up out there behind Zamondre. I think Boobie and Russell share a bulk of the snaps in the main slot position and will both be solid. D Williams could get some there too as well and probably some on the outside also. That is for 3 wide looks. If we bump the TE out wide that will likely be Bacheyie a lot along with Noah, but I guess we could move one of the outside guys in on some plays, weather it is Zamondre or Cole. I believe it was richmondcuse03 who said Cole was working some at the TE hybrid spot. I just feel like we want Cole out wide there a bunch as I think he is clearly in front of Moore, by listening to the rustle of the tea leaves in these interviews. If Cole were to move inside in 4 wide sets, I feel like the back-up there on that side is weaker than if Zamondre moves inside. If Zamondre moves inside I think we have Hatcher and Williams stepping in which are the better fill ins. Not sure if Hatcher is strong enough to step in out at Coles spot. I feel like we always want a strong physical guy at Cole's WR spot. I wonder if those WR's working some at that slot TE spot may be doing that more so as a just incase we get an injury to Bacheyie. That would be my guess.

Gattis didn't mention Samuel at all in that clip.

Who is the burner to stretch the D? Hatcher?
Yeah i'm not sure we have a real true burner option on the outside that is likely to get a ton of PT. I guess hatcher is likely the best candidate for that? But I think both Cole and Zamondre have a good combination of speed and physicality where they could both be threats to demand safety help on go routes, despite not having a true "burner" designation.

Don't think a "burner" is prerequisite. Last we had was AET. That said, D Will and Boobie can run and will play. Outten and Gough are properly quick as well but seem destined for smaller roles this year.

Hatcher is a wild card IF he's back 100%. He's repeatedly turned defenders in the past but lacked concentration IE hands to complete plays. His mental seems strong so if his body allows he could be that guy. Gill was that guy but here we are.

Gough or Outten

I don’t want to see Hatcher at all.
I get it. Sometimes it takes a while, or for certain circumstances to develop, or for the right coach to really get things to “click” for an individual player (at any position). I would be surprised if you would say that you haven’t seen good things out of Hatcher in the past. Has he been disappointing? Yes. Frustrating? Yes. Are the pieces there to make a good, if not great receiver? I would say yes, as I’m sure others would agree. BUT…let’s see it. First, he has to earn the “right" to show it when it counts. Then, it is all on him. We have options, but he is a member of the team and deserves the chance. What he does with that chance is up to him.

I agree on the thought of having a burner isn't a prerequisite. I would consider Gill though to be in that category though. He was a 10.68 100m guy which is pretty fast.

So Angeli said this is probably the best receiver corps he’s had in his career.

I'm sure that could be a bit of an optomistic evaluation, but good to hear none the less. :)
Better than ND wow…..

It’s an absolute. If you don’t have someone who can beat a defense over the top the safeties and DB’s creep up.

Gough or Outten
I don't think they see the field all that much though. Maybe they see the field on very occasional deep routes.

Amare Gough's best 100m is only 11.06 though.
Outten's best 100m was 10.91 in 2023 but his best in 2024 was 11.11 seconds.
McFadden best 100m was a 10.82 or maybe 10.78, but I don't think he will see the field much either.

A blazer is definitely a plus. And yes we need to have a threat on the outside, but i think some WR's can be a threat out there without being absolute burners. If they are fast enough, big and physical and can make plays on the ball and still make some deep catches, they are still a threat.

If Fran ever needs a burner on the outside I’m readily available. I ran a 5.1 40 in Highschool… just saying.

Does anyone know if there is a "Gates Open" time for people just going to the Spring Game? I know it starts at 7:30 and they won't be clearing out the dome from the lacrosse game, but I haven't seen any info on when football only fans can enter
