Was kind of curios since i noticed a pattern throughout the year. But it appears that the #21 ranking may be a place your team does not want to be. So far, here is the AP #21 ranked results:
Week 0: Iowa State / Win 29-26 v. Northen Iowa (middling FCS team) / Dropped 4 spots in polls
Week 1: Syracuse / Loss 63-20 v. Maryland / Dropped out of Top 25
Week 2: Maryland / Loss 20-17 v. Temple / Dropped out of Top 25
Week 3: Virginia / Win 28-14 v. Old Dominion (bad FBS team) / Raised 3 spots in polls
Week 4: Southern California / Loss 28-14 Washington / Dropped out of Top 25
Week 5: Oklahoma State / Loss 45-35 Texas Tech / Dropped out of Top 25
Week 6: SMU / Get the fighting Byes this week, Temple next week.
The two teams that won did not win very convincingly against far inferior opponents. The only game you could absolutely say where the team lost to a better team was Washington beating USC (though Syracuse loss to MD is still a toss up).
Hope for SMU's sake there is some movement in the polls before next weeks game.
